Not great service. Visited yesterday. Ordered a cappuccino and a tea (after not being acknowledged for far too long waiting patiently no customers at counter.) Head lady said £8.30 - me puzzled- then oops no £5.30 - ok better -and advised we were sitting outside. Waited and waited🤷‍♀️ only a few tables taken inside so not busy. Went back inside to enquire- all staff just walking to and fro completely ignoring me . Still not busy with customers. Head lady faffing about with an apparently leaky paper takeaway cup for a customer. Again waited and waited 🤷‍♀️ . Eventually Head lady who had taken my card payment acknowledged me ( as a new customer) I asked where my order was. Oops again. Got our drinks eventually. Checking my account today £8.30 taken. Not impressed - I just tapped as didn't have my readers on. Lesson learned. Got into a conversation with another customer who'd just ordered . Agreed service not good (she had worked in catering as I had). Staff clearly not trained properly. Head lady rude to the girls. Ordering system chaotic. Spoilt the visit to a unique Tea room. And believe me I've been to a few. Really glad I didn't order lunch too....

We were looking for a good spot for some tea and scones around Buxton and thought the vintage tearoom looked cute so we decided to stop at what I can only describe as one the most disappointing cafe I have ever been in. For starters we ordered four warm drinks while we waited (outside) for a table inside. It took 35 minutes to for four warm drinks to arrive, shortly after which we moved inside to a booth which was really quite uncomfortable because the bench was so narrow you feel like you’re perched right on the edge. At this point it’s been so long that we’re now terribly hungry so we got some sandwiches, which have to be ordered at the counter which took another 20 minutes, because the waitress is more interested in chatting to other patrons than taking orders. When we got our sandwiches, not only was the order wrong but they were a sad excuse, poor quality ingredients, barely any cheese, thrown together carelessly, hardly toasted and stingy portions and no seasoning at all (not even salt and pepper). All of this for a total of £65. Honestly even if you’re desperate I wouldn’t recommend, do yourself a favour and go...

We were two couples, out for a few hours in Buxton, who decided to start our visit with drinks and sandwiches at the Vintage. They are not the cheapest in town but their bacon, brie and cranberry toasted sandwich was the best I have had in a very long time, if ever.

In total, we spent close to ÂŁ70 that morning. Not a problem and everything would have been very positive until when one of us asked for some salad cream. The waitress replied that she had to charge 35 pence for that.

You may serve an excellent sandwich but when you don't know the difference between what is normally considered "good practice" and "trying to rip your clients off", there is something seriously wrong with your approach and we will not visit you again.

I also made me question the prices of all your...

The food here is delicious, I had a Derbyshire pancake with cheese and ham, which was what I call 'real ham', not the plastic packet stuff, which was really tasty, it was served with salad and crisps, and quite filling. To drink I had an Oat milk decaf latte, the oat milk was tasty, creamy and hot, don't like the warm lattes some places serve. The only problem for some people would have been the toilets, as they are down a flight of stairs in the cellar area of the cafe. But having said that the overall experience was good, with a nice atmosphere and pleasant staff.
