Had to go to Liverpool for a work related event which finished around 6pm...so asked around some locals about recommendations for Chinese food. A couple of people said this place was good so went there with a colleague. I will say this overall. BBNB is not the best Chinese restaurant I have been to. Its not at the standard of places like Hakkasan in London...but then very few are. Its probably not even at the Tai-Wu or Little Yang Sing level in Manchester. But it isn't far off...and it is far superior to a standard Chinese restaurant or takeaway. Think of it as a very reliable no-frills casual restaurant. If I lived nearby I would go there for a good meal or get takeaway knowing its going to be tasty and not break the bank. If I wanted to treat myself or someone else...I'd seek an alternative. As the name suggests their main offering is the huge bowls of noodle soup they serve. Lots of different options and the ones we ordered were very tasty. Food-wise the only thing that let it down was the chicken satay (pretty rubbery) and the roast duck (no crispy skin and overcooked). The service was very good...and the owner was very nice and friendly. Give it a try!

Came here to eat in after the Mei Mei across the road messed us about after waiting half an hour for the table we had booked and then half an hour of being ignored at the table. We should have come here in the first place. Soup (hot and sour soup was really good) and starters were fab (and mahosive) - we would have left it there if we had any sense. Mains were big in size and big in flavour. £15 per person for the food (we took half the mains back home in a doggy bag, they were that big) - we will be back to eat here again. Staff are happy to chat and it's well run. If you are in this area trying to choose between these restaurants then go to the Big Bowl Noodle Bar - it may not be as swish as others but in every other respect wins hands down. UPDATE - We returned several times with friends and family over the last year and it has been consistently really good food.

Very good, authentic Chinese food available here at Big Bowl Noodle Bar. The dishes are quickly prepared and always delicious. Each time I have eaten here, the staff have been friendly and both the restaurant and its facilities are clean. The atmosphere can feel a little sterile due to the bright lights, but having only eaten here for lunch, this is not an issue at all. The inclusion of other peoples' dining experiences as a part of the decor is a very cute addition. The only issue ever faced here was on one instance where the kitchen seemed to forget about our order, but we received a free round of drinks and huge apologies once we pointed this out. They seemed embarrassed but it was a sincere mistake. The cost of the food is very reasonable, considering what you receive. I will eat here again.

They FORGOT about us. Our starters were served quickly but they FORGOT to bring us our mains. We waited the best part an hour, eventually going up to enquire why five other parties who had come in after us had had their food & left. Then they realised they had forgotten about us which is odd considering they could see us and our empty table the entire time even coming over to ask if we wanted more drinks twice in the time we were waiting. They then sent a lovely waiter over to take the fall, instead of sending out the actual person who was at fault to apologise. Although the food was cooked to standard and was piping hot once it arrived all four of us thought it was very bland. 2 of our party had spicy options but couldn't taste no spice. My chicken wing starter had hardly any meat on it. It was like they had just deep fried some bones in breadcrumbs. Very disappointing. The whole mess around cut into time we could have spent exploring Liverpool and the discount they gave us for the inconvenience was so small that it seemed like a hollow gesture. Even with the discount was taken into account we were left with 58 pound bill for a meal not even worth a 5 quid. Would I come back? Only if I could order our meals a week in advance so that might just be served on time when we arrived. JOKE we would never eat hear again. Also I noticed the baby changing facilities in the ladies toilet offer no privacy for your infant and the cover on the changing matt is grubby. So glad I didn't have a child with...

The Big Bowl Noodle bar instantly became one of my favourite places to eat after only one visit... and I had only gone in there due to being stuck!

It was Chinese New Year and, obviously, Liverpool was absolutely packed. I wanted to eat some Chinese food for lunch but every single place had queues out the door. This place did too but we had got tired of trying to find somewhere and just settled on this, both due to proximity and the fact that it seemed to have a lot of Chinese people eating there, which is always a good sign.

Oh, it was certainly a find! As the name suggests, this isn't fancy Chinese food - this is more like the sort of thing you'd eat on your lunch break if you were in China. Big, hearty, bowls of noodle soup! They offer plenty of other dishes if you're looking for something else as well such as rice bowls, stir fries and more. For me though, the noodle bowls are most certainly where it's at. You can even get a Tea Stained Egg.

There are plenty of drinks on offer but I'm chiefly a Green Tea man so tend to stick to those. They sell Japanese Brown Rice Tea (Genmaicha) which is a personal favourite of mine.

The starters we had weren't the best to be honest. I get the impression they were frozen and then microwaved. Now, the rest of the food absolutely wasn't done like this so this is really just a minor problem.

Overall this is a great, authentic, cafe-like Chinese restaurant and absolutely worth a visit. I'll definitely...
