Our recent visit to Gulf House Restaurant was extremely disappointing. We had a reservation for 7, arranged via WhatsApp, as instructed through Instagram DM. Everything was confirmed.

Upon arrival, we encountered confusion due to the restaurant’s location. On Instagram, it is clearly stated that they are located behind another restaurant, but what we found was that the actual dining area is downstairs. Despite this, when we arrived, staff tried to seat us upstairs at a shisha bar, which is a completely different establishment. When we questioned this, the waitress insisted that we could sit upstairs at the shisha bar. We hadn’t booked the shisha bar, but the restaurant itself. This left us puzzled and frustrated.

We also asked about the private dining rooms advertised on their Instagram, but we were told there was no space available, despite having a confirmed booking. Meanwhile, we noticed other customers were being seated in the main restaurant. If we had wanted to dine in a shisha bar, we would have booked there. Instead, we were denied the experience of the restaurant we had booked and were shown on their social media.

The service was shockingly poor, especially for a new restaurant. After being treated so dismissively, we chose to leave. Fortunately, another nearby restaurant saved our evening by accommodating us with excellent service at short notice.

The experience at Gulf House Restaurant was appalling, whether due to miscommunication between staff and management or a genuine disregard for customers. Either way, something needs to change. As someone with experience in the restaurant industry, I found this treatment unacceptable. The decor may be nice, but the management’s handling of the situation was far from professional.

I hope the restaurant steps up and improves. While I may give it another chance, based on this first experience, I cannot recommend Gulf...

Gulf Gouse Restaurant in Liverpool very mindful setup and a unique concept which I have seen for the 1st time in the UK. Food is excellent no complaints, we asked for the soup at the beginning of the meal. Food was laid well and the taste was delicious. The meat was cooked well it was tender and was sliding from the bones which I consider a necessity of Kabsa. Lassi was good and quantity was enough as mentioned. 4 star coz it was missing the traditional teas which are usually served at this type of Restaurant. We asked for tea but it was just a normal tea which they need to work on. Once they have the selection of teas it will complete this restaurant. Service was very quick and we didn't have to wait for it long. I noticed that the owner's were handling this place on their own there was no other staff noticed. I think that there was 1 serving upstairs sheesha and 2 of them serving in the restaurant. The main attraction of this place is the ambience. What a concept loved it. Fully typical traditional Gulf village. So thoughtful of details and so well set in such a small area. The essence of the hut, a traditional music instrument, the cart as a centre piece, everything is well set. You will love this ambience. This is a must-visit if you love kabsa and there is also sheesha available which is a separate set-up....

Interior is stunning but didn’t get a chance to try the food. I text to book earlier in the day, and was advised “walk in only.” They did not state that they were fully booked.

Got to the restaurant, there was a big queue, and no members of staff were letting us in the queue know what was going on.

We were eventually advised (after asking), we would wait half an hour. 1 hour and a half later, a member of staff told us it would be 10 minutes until we were seated. After 10 minutes, I approached the same member of staff explaining my frustration as we could have went somewhere else for food if they were fully booked and advised us so. We were then advised that there was no food left, after waiting for nearly 2 hours. The male member of staff told me “you’re not the only one here,” when I expressed my concerns.

By the time we were told there was no food left, no other restaurants were open for us to go to eat. Very disappointing as we tried to be understanding that the restaurant is busy, however, poor customer service and greed meant that we could not go out for food at all that night as planned. The restaurant had several opportunities to let us know that they could not serve us and could have saved us a...

Came to experience this new place on the very first day after seeing updates on their socials which looked quite unique and indeed it is. Once you enter its quite something you have never experienced atleast here in liverpool. It felt like we were taken to the other side of the world and back in time. Loved their effort on the interior. Its very unique. Coming to the hospitality. The staff were all dressed in traditional attire and they all looked very nice. I understand it could not be very comfortable for everyone to wear traditional outfit throughout the shift and do all the work but kudos to them for putting in all the effort. Everyone was very welcoming and attentive. I have always loved Yemeni food and they didnt fail to impress. Absolutely loved everything we ordered. I went straight in with the lamb kabsa which was absolute spot on. The lamb was tender the rice was perfectly spiced not too greesy. Would order it again and again Loved the texture of the naan. Freshly made Hummus was good as well Finished it off with Karak tea which was nice and sweet Overall loved the concept and food was smashing and price not too bad as well!

This place is the ultimate relaxation restaurant experience. You can choose to eat at a table or in your own private dining area where you take your shoes off to dine on the floor. We chose to have our own area, this was a completely different dining experience but I loved it. Their authentic Arab dishes filled with lots of flavour as well as their amazing meat - lamb that fell straight off the bone - it was cooked to perfection. This felt as though I was at home in someone elses home - the dishes were so beautifully cooked. The service was great and the staff were attentive to our needs. I would recommend this restaurant and would go again. There is a shisha bar next door if you fancied a shisha afterwards too which makes for the whole authentic experience of the middle east in one night. A different side to Liverpool I have not seen before & great to see the celebration of culture thriving in the city!
