We dined here during our trip to Liverpool last week. I am not usually a huge fan of Japanese cuisine but I am now converted. The restaurant is immaculate and modern. We were welcomed on arrival and was asked to take a seat in the lounge area whilst waiting for our chef. We ordered a few pre-meal drinks. We were soon taken to our table. In front of us were the grills in which the chef would do their magic. Whilst waiting we had our drinks which were great. My sister for the green dragon mocktail which was amazing. It contains apple, lychee, aloe, lemon and elderflower. I had to order one myself after having a taste. Although, I have to say the drink gets less enjoyable the more you drink. The first sip is the best. We also got blossom tea which was not bad. The food menu is vast. So much to choose from that it’s difficult to decide. Thankfully they have taster menus which means you get to try a bit of lots of different things. I opted for the Emperor taster which had 9 items on it with a mixture of meat and fish options, plus a dessert. 2 others in the party also got a taster but got one of the smaller ones. My sister just chose from the menu. The chef soon arrived and he was humorous throughout. Be prepared to catch some potato in your mouth. He didn’t say a huge amount but likes to imitate peoples laugh. Thankfully, nobody found offence to this. My favourite part was when he got his big out on show. It was so random but so funny. We were all very impressed with his abilities in the kitchen. He was clearly an expert with years of training. Now down to the food. My review would be the length of the bible if I described each dish but overall the food was delicious. I even had sushi which I loved. The last time I had sushi I wasn’t a fan. My favourite dish was the barbecue ribs. They were, fall off the bone, tender and the taste was unreal. The seabass was also particularly amazing. I thought the beef fillet was incredible. We shared the duck spring rolls and they were also really tasty. Most items were faultless apart from a couple. My wife and I both had chicken fillet and we both agreed that it was very chewy and squeaky and it didn’t taste all that great. The sweet potato tempura was nice but I thought that the sweet potato was undercooked because there was a few hard bites. With each dish we had fried potatoes, egg fried rice and veg. All of which was really good. I could’ve quite happily snacked on this potato’s all night. Finally, we got dessert. I went with the chocolate spring rolls which were delicious. My wife got biscoff cheesecake which she really enjoyed and the other members of the party also loved their dessert. It was an expensive bill just for the 4 of us but it was an amazing experience. Portions were relatively small but you do get a variety of high quality food so I didn’t mind paying more than I would usually. I would love...

Read moreTotal lack of care, missing food, greasy and inedible. Since lockdown it appears this restaurant has really gone downhill. I suffer with my health so was delighted that we can order to our home. For his 21st birthday I asked my son what he would like and from where and he picked lamb from Sapporo’s. We ordered that and a few little dishes to share amongst us. He was really excited. The food arrived but the lamb meal was missing. The money had already come out of my account but the lamb wasn’t even on the receipt enclosed. Trying to make the best of it, he bit into a spring roll which immediately dripped with grease and he pulled a two inch thick piece of unbiteable leak out. The battered little items lacked flavour, were very pale and went soggy quickly. The fish dishes and noodles were only adequate, local supermarket or chippy equivalent. We rang over and over again but no-one answered. It occasionally rerouted to an automated booking line, eventually I got an answer machine. While I left a message asking for the lamb, I did not get a call back or the missing dish. While I was still trying to get through on the phone, the price of the lamb was refunded to me. Not good enough, the most important person was left without a meal. Disgusting service. As though because we are not there in front of them, we...
