“Solid Local Pub – Great for a Pre-Night Out Pint” – 4/5
The Grapes is a brilliant little local just a stone’s throw from the city centre. If you’re after a proper, no-frills boozer, this is the place. It’s perfect for grabbing a pint and getting into the right mood before heading out for the night. The atmosphere is laid-back, but there’s a buzz in the air, so it’s not dead by any means. It’s an easy spot to make the transition from a casual drink to a full night out.
Venue: A classic local pub with good old-fashioned charm. No frills, just a great place to enjoy a pint in peace. Its location near the city centre makes it ideal for starting your night right.
Atmosphere: Friendly, relaxed, but still enough energy to make it a good starting point for your night. Not too busy, but lively enough to keep things interesting.
Service: No complaints here. The staff are friendly, and the service is quick. It’s not a high-end bar, so don’t expect anything fancy, but the staff get the job done.
Drinks: Solid. Nothing too fancy, but the pints are on point, and the classic drinks are all served up just as they should be. It’s the kind of place where you’ll get what you want...
Read moreAs a pub its brilliant with tons of character with great ales and is well worth a visit. I could only be disappointed with the manager though. We ordered two ales and they were delicious and when we finished we order "two more of them please". What came back were two dark ales, and not what we ordered but we paid before we noticed this. When we explained what had happened we got referred to the manager who just would not replace them or do anything to help. We've no issue with the honest mistake, it happens but surely this has to be rectified. If you're in a restaurant and order a burger but get a soup you'd expect it to be changed right? So why is it different with a pint? It was poor service and for that I probably won't go back. A shame because it's a great pub. Oh, and since when did "take your own" mean take...
Read moreI have been to this bar several times and have always had an okay experience, on this occasion I did not. I went to the bathroom and entered the cubicle, once sat down the metal toilet roll holder fell, hitting me in the face. Whilst I would usually accept this as an accident when I informed staff they laughed in my face and asked “don’t you watch where you are going?”. At this stage I asked to report it to an incident book where I was offered ice and limited sympathies. It was suggested that despite the SAME thing happening 5-6 times previously this accident was my fault. I am completely disgusted with the attitude of the staff and feel humiliated and belittled by staff. Whilst I appreciate it was only a small cut and lump and I would never normally asked for that to be recorded, the way I was treated was...
