I visited 18grams earlier today and had a delightful experience overall. The coffee was absolutely delicious - I savored every sip of my cappuccino. The highlight of my visit was the barista: outstandingly welcoming, super nice, and evidently highly skilled. He managed the bustling café with grace and maintained a positive demeanor throughout. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great coffee spot.
However, I did witness a situation that I feel compelled to share. A woman in a homelessness crisis walked in and, with a surprising air of entitlement, requested a croissant and a hot beverage. The barista, showing incredible kindness, provided her with the meal, i think he did it for free. This act of generosity is commendable and reflects well on the café’s community spirit. The café was busy, typical for a sunny Sunday, with a long queue of customers. Despite the rush, the woman repeatedly asked the barista to hurry up. Once she received her order, she accidentally spilled some of her drink on the counter and floor but didn’t attempt to clean it up. She decided to sit right next to me, near the bar. After a moment, she turned to me asking for money, which made me uncomfortable. When she finished her meal, she eventually started falling asleep slowly leaning on me and when I politely asked her not to, she responded angrily, questioning my right to say anything. While I appreciate the café's support for those in need, the incident significantly impacted my experience. I strongly believe that there are better ways to help people in crisis, perhaps by distributing food leftovers at the end of the day or partnering with local services to support them. The barista deserves special recognition for handling the situation with unwavering politeness and professionalism, despite the challenges.
Overall, I enjoyed my visit and applaud the café for its inclusivity. Still, balancing such generous acts with a comfortable environment for all customers is crucial. Kudos to the barista for making my coffee visit a memorable one despite...
