I have visited this charming restaurant twice this year, not knowing about it before. On my first visit in June we were catered in the basement part which I thought was a relaxing and cosy area for drinks and catch up, the cocktails were fantastic and I have discovered a few that's now my favourite! I really, really love that ambience in the basement. Second visit was Wednesday the 4th of August this time we were sat on the ground level where I enjoyed the rustic style decorations & was greeted by some very polite, accommodating and happy to serve (all smiles) waiters which made us felt so welcome (again!). They are very customer focused, (all good looking too!) knows all their food and drinks -very hospitable all in all. This second visit is focused on food as it was late afternoon around 4:30pm and we were hungry. We had Seared prawns, garlic, lemon, chilli, parsley which was thoroughly enjoyed -the taste was just incredible! we also had 31 Below burger which I shared with a friend because I am not a fan of burgers but this one proved me wrong, I should've had the whole burger!!! Padron peppers on the sides were also very complementary to the rest of the food on our table. The presentation was 10/10 the taste and the texture was a winner! We also loved our truffle fries topped with pecorino cheese -another winner!! Oh and not to forget the flourless chocolate cake, it is heaven in your mouth an absolute treat. We probably owe this amazing experience to the chef of the day! Thank you very, very much and we will definitely see you again when we...
Read moreHaving failed to book lunch for my wife’s bday shopping trip on 22.10.21, I Googled desperately for best places to eat in Marylebone Lane. Ivy was full so I tried 31 Below. Managed to book a lunch table for me, my wife & daughter but was a little nervous as assumed all the ‘good places’ would already be taken. How wrong I was! As soon as we entered I realised how lucky we’d been. The place was busy with a great atmosphere. Tom greeted us as if we were regulars and took us to our table which he cleaned perfectly (big pet hate is a sloppily wiped wet table). The menu was quite small but I actually think that’s a good thing! Tom was so friendly. Great tips for pre-lunch cocktails and they were so good we both had a second. There’s no kids menu but my daughter ordered the chicken from the starters plus fries which was perfect for her. My wife had a fabulous salad which she added halloumi too and I had the corn fed chicken. All food was excellent. We had a perfectly chilled bottle of Albariño and quite possibly the highlight of the meal. The sticky toffee pudding. Literally the nicest I’ve ever eaten. The waiter who recommended it could not have praised it higher. We ate upstairs but check out the basement bar too. A very chilled place for drinks and hanging out. We will definitely go back but also delighted to her that COPPA, another restaurant in the same group has opened in Putney where we live and we will definitely be going for the Sticky Toffee!!!! Absolutely recommend...
Read moreWe booked a table for 12.30 lunch on Sunday before going to see a show at the Royal.Academy of Music. The decor and ambience were pleasant.and we were sat at a table for 2 at the back on the ground floor level. There was a DJ playing lively music at the front which would not have been convenient for quiet chat. However inside the level was fine. The waitress was amiable and took our order quickly. The food.and drink came relatively quickly. My greek salad only had a couple of pieces of cucumber, 4 black olives and a small ammount of crumbled, but tasty, Feta. I mentioned this to rhe waitress and she returned with a small side plate with some extra cucumber. The salad was slightly overpowered by the red onion but it was acceptable. My wifes Green salad was ok but she commented that it was overpowered by too much vinegrette. The smoothies were pleasant but my wifes super berry ine was from a plastic bottle whereas my 31 Bee seemed to be homemade. The bill had to be paid from the table using an app and although the 12.5% discretionary service charge was optional there was no way if removing it without asking the staff to come over and change it. We didnt, but it was interesting that the app then prompted us to add a tip as well. The bill came to £54 which for a light lunch we felt was a little high. Overall, it wasnt the experience we had hoped and we will probably not return, but it was a pleasant...
