Went to Aik Sitar on Saturday the 6th of September for a celebration of my parents anniversary. We had a show booked first then we went here after. We don’t live in London but my parents spent time looking for a place to book and the reviews of this place were really good and we all love Indian.
Upon arrival everything looked fine the people were friendly and it was great.
I will say that the drinks are a bit expensive - £4 for a half a pint of coke/sprite, however, I think that’s London prices and not them.
The thing that lets this review down is the fact that we had waited a good time for our food and as soon as it was on our table it was cold. The rice and the curries were cold to touch. My Mum asked them to remake it and they did. However they didn’t take the naan so that was just sitting there, then we had to remind them of our chips that we also ordered. The chips came out seconds later. We had chips and naan on the table but nothing to actually eat it with.
The remake of the curries and the rice came out about 15 mins later. I had put my napkin on top of the chips to try and save the warmth but the naans were cold by this point. My remade curry (butter chicken) was still cold but everyone else’s on my table was fine so I just left it and ate what I could.
The waitress who could be the manager, came over and asked if everything was okay after the remake of the food. My dad, who is here celebrating his anniversary with my mum wasn’t happy, (in my eyes he was right to say something). He pointed out that by the time the food came out the naan is now cold and it’s just not good customer service. She told us she would remake the Naan.
My parent’s anniversary meal was slightly ruined now, my dad wasn’t happy, my mum was trying to make the situation alright. I don’t know what happened here after but we had all finished what we could of our food, but still no naan?
It took a waiter/waitress 25 minutes to come and ask if we were finished. We were right by the entrance and the bar so it’s not like they missed us? We were all just sat there thinking is anyone going to actually come to us?
This point we just wanted to leave, my mum dealt with the payment side and they did give us a discount and took off the service charge. The woman waitress (manager we think) was insistent that everything was made fresh and to come into the kitchen to watch. We don’t want that we just wanted hot food, you could stick your finger in the curry, leave it for 1 minute and it wouldn’t even leave a mark. That’s not hot.
I’m not sure if we were the unfortunate ones that just had a bad experience but it was that bad that we won’t bother again.
Unfortunately this place has got great reviews and for my parents and my friend when their food was remade the second time it was lovely, I just couldn’t eat mine since there was zero different in the temperature from when it was cold the first time to the second time when it was remade.

Read moreAik Sitar 18 July 2024 (“Curry Club” Event) We had pre-booked the Aik Sitar for seventeen diners. The restaurant was very busy, and we were pleased that we booked our tables in advance to avoid any disappointment on the night, but they had some capacity for those without a booking. We were well looked after by the staff and in particular, Shuhel, who personally managed our booking and was well supported by his friendly and helpful colleagues. There was a well-stocked bar with a good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. We started with poppadums and spicy dips. This was followed by an appetising, mixed starter consisting of meat and vegetable items. The staff then took individual orders for the mains which had a large variety of traditional curries, vegetarian dishes as well as the Aik Sitar house specials. Our group made their individual selections ranging from chicken, lamb, fish and vegetarian dishes. This was accompanied by nan bread and rice. They also have a good selection of desserts. We noted that Aik Sitar had a pre-theatre set menu, as the restaurant is a few minutes’ walk from Covent Garden. For our “Curry Club”, it was also a great social and enjoyable event, with a good atmosphere and delicious food. In summary, this an outstanding restaurant, serving very tasty, quality, and freshly cooked food, all accompanied by thoughtful and attentive service. It is one of the best Indian restaurant in central London, especially in terms of value for money, as food and drinks are also fairly priced. We would highly recommend this restaurant for a great Indian meal with a fantastic manager and a friendly...
