We was there for our special 10th Anniversary. one of the stuff was overly confident within himself.
online we saw 3 course meal, which we wanted to get however we was told after 6pm they do not do the 3 course meal. (that's understandable, but please write ur timing on the menu so people do not get confuse, as it's misleading information.)
We ordered starters, and we asked until the starters come We will order the mains straight away. The waiter told us we need to place an order now as kitchen will close at 10pm.
plates were dirty, which I asked to be changed. the waiter didn't like the fact I said plates were dirty, it had sauce so y would we want to use someone's plate 4?
I had asked the waiter questions about the portion sizes, and waiter he got a bit funny, I am sorry he is not paying I wanted to order which I don't waste any food too and so that i can irder food which i can try.
however we ordered when the mains came, I asked for the menu book again when mains arrived, i was asked if there was a problem when I said I wanted to order, as the dish i ordered i do not eat mince so wanted to order another new dish, I was told kitchen are not taking any orders.
after 10mins another 2 different new customers came but their orders were taken. Just as fine.
I actally was looking to book for a family dinner with 20+ people for our 10th Anniversary dinner. in end of January 2025
however Paro lacked it's customer service it was a reasonable priced menu. the food was okay too. but lots of over confidence from your staffs. Just as they saw same colour skin, and they were discussing in Bengoli that I am upset. yes upset as I did not eat as I do not like mince and it's not that I am earing for free i was paying.
very disappointed. We could have gone to Dishoom but wanted to try Paro as we heard good reviews showed a decent rating.
10th Anniversary dinner date was spoilt, as we didn't eat the atmosphere was totally gone, but also saved us from spending too much booking for 20 people to arrange for a small dinner party.
also candle were in most tables but few tables they did not place them. if you will have candles but them in all table.
napkins were less and when collecting the starter plates the waiter wanted me to give the plates, this is a small guy, said can you give the small plates and make sure you take your fork and knive. (I felt like I am paying service fee and also I need to work, I might as well wash my own plate) awful experience, I wouldn't recommend to friends and family.
own community people have too much over confidence when they see similar community. staffs needs to have more training on customer service.
I felt dissapointed as could have enjoyed a memorable meal else where for our special 10th year...

I visited Paro Indian Fusion near the Lyceum Theatre and was warmly greeted by Niaz Caan himself. From the moment I walked in, I was addressed with âsirâ throughout â polite, attentive, and honestly quite refreshing. Not the typical service youâd expect at most Indian restaurants â this was elevated, charming, and respectful without being overbearing.
The waiting staff were quietly professional and very patient. I had a plus one joining me later, and they calmly waited until we were both seated before engaging again â a small but thoughtful touch.
It wasnât a particularly busy Monday evening (around half full), but the team handled service effortlessly. I asked the waiter, Sam, to choose our dishes for us â something I like to do when I want to test how engaged the staff really are with their food. Sam absolutely delivered with confidence and warmth.
To start, we had a prawn curry served on a paratha bed and a lamb seekh kebab in curry. The lamb was decent, though a little dense â it could have used more seasoning or a richer keema-style base. But the prawn curry was outstanding: two giant, perfectly cooked prawns in a sweet-spicy tomato reduction, paired with a stretchy, buttery paratha. Easily the highlight of the starters.
For mains, we had a slow-cooked lamb shank in a rich tomato sauce â beautifully cooked and fall-apart tender. Again, just a little salt brining would have taken it from excellent to phenomenal.
We also tried the meat-eaterâs thali, which came with two generous curries, sambal, yellow dal, raita, rice, and naan. The portions were huge â honestly too much if youâve already had starters â but the flavours were spot on. The chicken curry was especially good: a balanced heat that tapers off as you eat, mellowed by a deep tomato-onion base. The lamb curry had the same brining issue, but was still well-cooked and spiced.
Drinks were great too â the mango lassi disappeared before my nephew could even speak, and mine was just as good.
The atmosphere is warm, relaxed, and â crucially â quiet enough to hold a proper conversation. No loud music, no chaos. Itâs ideal for a date or a meaningful meal with friends.
Overall, apart from some minor seasoning tweaks, this place delivers a thoughtful, passionate menu, great hospitality, and a calm dining experience. I honestly think itâs wasted on the theatre crowd rushing in and out. Paro deserves to be a destination in...
Read moreI visited Paro on a Saturday afternoon to catch up with a good friend â weâre both foodies. Having asked around for recommendations for reasonably priced cuisine in London, especially where the food is fresh and varied, Paro came highly suggested.
On a practical level, Paro was very accommodating. I requested to have the table for longer than the usual 90 minutes for parties up to 4, and they agreed without hesitation. On the day, I needed to push back my reservation by 30 minutes at short notice, and they managed this with ease and friendliness.
The service was exceptional from start to finish. We received a warm welcome and were treated very well throughout our stay. We opted for the pre-theatre menu, which offered excellent value, and added some small plates as sides, such as sag paneer and five spice potatoes. The bang bang chicken starter was succulent and full of flavour, and the potato chops were a great choice. We both had the lamb shank for our main course, and it was to die for; it was quite spicy, so be prepared for that. The meat fell off the bone and was incredibly plentiful! There is a ÂŁ4 supplement for the lamb shank if ordering from the theatre menu, which is most definitely worth it.
We were also thrilled to find authentic Indian desserts available. We both chose gulab jamun, which was absolutely beautiful.
I would definitely recommend Paro, especially if youâre planning a visit to the Royal Opera House, which is just around the corner. Itâs the perfect spot for a pre-opera meal. I canât wait to go back â this place deserves five stars without question!
The price comprising: 2 x starters, 2 x mains, 3 x poppadum with dips, 2 x puddings, 2 x large side dishes, (naan and rice was complimentary), drinks (one large Kingfisher beer, 750ml sparkling water and a 330ml Coke) and a 12.5% service charge came to ÂŁ100.80 (total; i.e....
