Morning Tea in London! Afternoon or High Tea is usually on everyone’s things to do in London list but since the girls and I don’t eat beef or pork the menus for most places didn’t make sense for us as they are filled with ham sandwiches and other things we don’t eat. I ended up finding Morning Tea at Peggy Porschen instead which offers a tea menu with breakfast items, while not traditional it worked best for us! It cost Ā£35 pp. For a traditional Afternoon or High Tea Try: šŸ«–Palm Court at The Ritz šŸ«–The Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon at Fortnum & Mason šŸ«–Theatre Royal Drury Lane šŸ«–The Grill Room Hotel Cafe Royal (has vegetarian an vegan options) šŸ«–Coronation Afternoon Tea at Cellarium, Westminster Abbey šŸ«–The Rosebery Coronation Afternoon Tea at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park šŸ«–The Goring Hotel Afternoon Teas Geared Towards Families: ā˜•ļøPeter Pan Afternoon Tea at Aqua at The Shard ā˜•ļøJurassic Afternoon Tea at the Ampersand Hotel ā˜•ļøJungle Book Afternoon Tea at Brown’s Hotel ā˜•ļøSecret Garden Afternoon Tea at Taj 51 ā˜•ļøThe Buzzy Bees Afternoon Tea at St. Ermin’s Hotel ā˜•ļøGrover’s Children’s Tea at Grosvenor House Hotel ā˜•ļøThe Peppa Pig Afternoon Tea Bus Tour ā˜•ļøSherlock Holmes Inspired Afternoon Tea at the Mind Palace ā˜•ļøCharlie and the Chocolate Factory Tea at One Aldwych ā˜•ļøMad Hatter Afternoon Tea at The Sanderson ā˜•ļøWizard of Oz Afternoon Tea at The Soho Hotel Have you done a proper Afternoon or High Tea in London before? Was the one you did on this list, if so what did you think of it? If you have additional recommendations please do leave a comment!

Here’s the hard thing about being a luxury hotel in London: standing out. Honestly, who isn’t spoilt for choice? You’ve got the big-name establishments with their red-carpet entrances, top-hatted doormen, and an air of aristocratic pomp, servicing those who like their luxury served with a side of flash. Then there are the multi-national chains—slick, polished, and globally uniform, perfect for those who want reassurance that their room in Mayfair will look and feel like their room in Manhattan. But here’s the rub: when everything is expensive, how do you choose? Well, let me make it easy for you: go to One Aldwych. It’s that simple. Why? Because this is the hotel for those who want luxury and style, but with a twist. Yes, the location is absurdly good—smack in the beating heart of Covent Garden, just a stumble from the West End’s brightest lights and a skip from the Thames. Yes, the service is so impeccable it could star in its own Savile Row advert. But what really sets this place apart is how it feels. It’s cool but posh. Opulent but understated. The sort of place where you’d happily sip a Negroni at the bar, surrounded by elegant people who look like they might actually have jobs, hobbies, and interesting dinner party anecdotes. The design strikes that perfect balance: stylish without being ostentatious, luxurious without being loud. The rooms? Gorgeous. The food? Sublime. The pool? There’s a bloody underwater soundtrack, for heaven’s sake. The vibe? Like staying at the townhouse of your chicest, richest, most infuriatingly effortless friend. So, do yourself a favour. Forget the grand gestures and predictable names. One Aldwych is where you want to be. I stayed. I liked it. You will too.

I simply don’t think that an overnight hotel experience could be any better than this. My wife had booked Moulin Rouge as a birthday present show and as there was no option for our now mid-50’s preference for a matinee, decided an overnight West End hotel was necessary. Hence One Aldwych as a short walk from Waterloo. Hannah the manager greeted us on arrival, noted my birthday and I very much appreciated the edible gifts waiting for us in our room. We had planned ahead to take advantage of the pre-show, Gluten-free dining from 5pm (the stacked potatoes accompanying the pork were exquisitely flavoured and crisped beautifully). Returning with a post show-glow later yesterdays evening, we were then able to check out the cocktail menu in the recently refurbished Lobby Bar (some may say that 10-year single-malt MacAllen shouldn’t be a cocktail ingredient but I say when mixed with a peaty Laphroiaig & a sliver of Orange peel, you need to just roll with the experiences that life throws at you). The attention to detail from the staff meant that the turn down service left a copy of ā€œ365 ways to change the worldā€ with a marker for yesterdays date eschewing the ecological & health benefits of cycling: a fact now stored in my goals for the next year to-do list. I completely love the opportunity to swim in a chlorine-free pool, and this morning after using the bespoke Joggers-map to sneak in a 5Km Run/Walk via the South Bank, Westminster Bridge & Royal Park route, I returned to OneAldwych Lower ground floor to stretch out the underused leg muscles in the gym, shower and then enjoy sole use of the pool. Taking a large breath, I was able to appreciate the tranquility enhanced by the underwater speakers as I dove a whole length in one breath. This set the both of us up for the spa treatments with Jenna (my First Gentleman’s facial) as the perfect finish to a decadent, but luxurious 24-hour rejuvenating break. Emily the manager asked me on check out, when we will be back and I realise now that this needs to be a regular (at least annual) part of my continued professional development plan. Thank you to...

We stayed at One Aldwych over the US Thanksgiving holiday, for 5 nights. We cancelled another hotel that we had previously loved, because of the consistent 5 star reviews on travel websites. Unfortunately, One Aldwych didn't come close to feeling like a 5 Star hotel - as in a Four Seasons, Peninsula kind of 5 star that we have enjoyed. We availed of the stay 7 nights, pay for 5 promotion. Upon arrival in our, room I was shocked to see how small it was, it fit the queen size bed just about. We decided to go to bed and cope with a move the next day. We had asked for an upgrade and was told that we received one, but the thank you note and some fruit in our name was in the room, so it was the original one, not a bigger upgrade. When we complained a staff member came to our room and I am sure he realized that, yes, it was tiny. He ended up finding a bigger one for us, it had a seating area and we were happier. Our next issues were breakfast. The hotel was good about giving us a breakfast meal around 1:00 p.m., even though they complained every day that we were calling late, but we were coping with Jet lag. The coffee was awful, every day. Because we were sharing the huge full British, one morning they sent up one cup of coffee, instead of a pot. After about 2 days of walking for miles, our bodies started to hurt, we let them know and the head housekeeper supervised one of her staff and added toppers and comforters to make the mattress softer. I say all this because the hotel did everything they could to make things right when we complained, but we are not into complaining that much and hate waiting for things to be put right. One site says that they give you flowers and fruit every day, that wasn't the case for us, but they do keep the mini bar full, a nice touch. We didn't get a good vibe from the concierge the first time we spoke to him, he appeared to be frustrated with one of our questions. I wouldn't recommend One Aldwych unless you are comfortable waiting for problems to be solved. We didn't use the...

I just wanted to take a moment to share the marvelous experience I had during my recent stay at One Aldwych Hotel. My great friend, my doggie, and I had the pleasure of spending a night there, and I must say, it was absolutely delightful from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the concierge, and the extraordinary check-in with Cecile made us feel so welcome. The room was incredibly cozy, and the facilities were nothing short of superb. I was particularly impressed by Agne’s dedication to making our stay truly special. The room was spotless and adorned with lovely touches, such as complimentary cake and wines. Finding a nice bed and treats for my dog was a delightful surprise, something we had never encountered in other hotels we’ve stayed at before. My dog thoroughly enjoyed the soft bed and tasty treats. The room service was impeccable, ensuring that our needs were met promptly and efficiently. We also had the pleasure of visiting the Indigo restaurant, where we savored the most delicious cocktails, expertly recommended by Julia. Her extensive knowledge of the drink selection was impressive, and she added a lovely surprise with a birthday cake for me, making my stay even more special. The restaurant's environment was stunning, surrounded by an array of beautiful flowers. On our way, we met the General Manager, Gavin, who kindly acknowledged that we were staying with a dog and extended a warm greeting to us. In general, the hotel exuded luxury, and the entire staff was incredibly friendly, making us feel like royalty. The location was also fantastic, contributing to what was undoubtedly one of the greatest stays I’ve had in London. Thank you once again for a truly...
