Review of Burgers and Lobsters
I recently had the opportunity to dine at Burgers and Lobsters on Oxford Street, and I wanted to share my thoughts and experiences. Overall, my visit was a mixed bag, with some positive aspects and a few areas for improvement.
Let's start with the customer service, which I found to be excellent. The staff members were attentive and accommodating, particularly when it came to addressing my allergy concerns. They took the time to explain the ingredients in various dishes and made sure my meal was prepared accordingly. Their effort in ensuring a safe dining experience was commendable, and it made me feel well taken care of.
When it comes to presentation, Burgers and Lobsters certainly delivers. The food looked absolutely enticing, with vibrant colors and artful plating. It's worth noting that the dishes are Instagram-worthy, making them perfect for those seeking social media-worthy pictures. However, I must admit that the taste did not match the visual appeal. While the food was decent, it fell short of my expectations, especially considering the price tag attached to each dish. The taste was not exceptional enough to justify the high cost, leaving me somewhat disappointed.
Moving on to the atmosphere, I found it to be a bit dull for a location on Oxford Street. The ambiance lacked the vibrant energy that one might expect from a bustling area like this. The decor and lighting were adequate but didn't contribute significantly to creating a memorable dining experience. It would have been nice to see more attention given to creating a lively and engaging atmosphere that matches the restaurant's prime location.
On a positive note, the parking situation was convenient. It was a pleasant surprise to discover that parking was free after 8:30 p.m. This made it easier for me to access the restaurant without the added stress of paying for parking in a busy area. The availability of free parking during certain hours is definitely a plus for visitors.
In conclusion, my experience at Burgers and Lobsters had its highs and lows. While the customer service and attention to allergies were commendable, the taste of the food did not justify the high prices. Additionally, the atmosphere could benefit from a livelier ambiance to enhance the overall dining experience. Nonetheless, the free parking after 8:30 p.m. was a convenient perk for visitors.
If you're looking for an aesthetically pleasing dining experience and don't mind the higher price point, Burgers and Lobsters could be worth a visit. However, for those seeking exceptional taste and an energetic atmosphere, there may be better options available...
Read moreThis place almost gave me (a pregnant woman) severe food poisoning so I would definitely avoid. It turns out it has 2/5 rating by the Food Standard Agency in the UK and requires “necessary improvement” in their hygiene standards as of April 2025. This is quite shocking as Burger & Lobster chain is known to be more of a high-end restaurant, given their price point.
The place has an eggy smell when you walk in. My husband ordered the 2lbs steamed lobster and I ordered the small lobster for £40. We specifically told the waiter that I am pregnant, to make sure my lobster was thoroughly cooked.
After the second bite of my lobster, I noticed a chemical-like strong aftertaste and knew something was off so stopped eating. Then I smelled the lobster closely and it had the same strange smell. My husband’s lobster didn’t smell like that. My husband then had 2-3 bites of my lobster and confirmed that something was off.
We decided to tell the manager to make sure the chefs know there are spoiled lobsters in their batch. The manager’s initial response was very rude, his literal words were “what do you want me to do? I would have replaced the lobster for you but you’ve finished it.” Firstly, the lobster was not finished; we literally had 4-5 bites in total, but the £40 lobster is so tiny that 4-5 bites is basically half of that lobster. Secondly, I definitely did not want to eat or touch anything else in that place after this.
After we made the second point very clear, I assume the manager realised we were not trying to scam him and were just really concerned because I am pregnant (honestly just shocking that he would assume so in the first place). The manager then changed his attitude, and didn’t end up charging us for the spoiled lobster, though I would definitely lose my cool if he did.
Additionally, when we asked the manager if my lobster was cooked from fresh, he said the £40 lobsters are cooked from frozen unlike the 2lbs ones, which was also a big surprise to us. He also said the chef checked the lobster and it was not spoiled, but then would I trust a chef with a 2/5 hygiene rating? No.
In any case, I had an upset stomach the next day from just two bites of that lobster. And I cannot dare to imagine what would have happened if, as a pregnant woman, I didn’t have a heightened sense of smell and kept on eating. I would have probably ended up at the A&E.
We used to regularly visit Burger & Lobster in Leicester Square and in Canary Wharf, but this experience has put us off from going to any of...
Read moreAfter 7 years we came back to Burger & Lobster and guess what. The same! In a good way. Same great food and very important, same good size. Yes , it is important because nowadays everything goes higher in price and lower in size. Don’t remember how much I paid in 2015.
We had a bottle of Albariño white wine. It arrived so quick so the bar staff should be TOP. When eating seafood, there is no way that a Spanish person would choose something different (promised). Really disappointed with the tap water we asked . A plain jug of water. Not even cold or filtered. I was expecting some ice and lemon for a place like this.
We were asked how we’d prefer our lobsters, steamed or grilled. Cannot believe someone with decent taste could go with the steamed option… we went, of course, with the grilled option.
The burger, acceptable. Not reaching the Honest Burgers level (they should be able in my opinion) but much better that a Byron Burger (what shouldn’t be that hard to achieve) Had the option of medium or we’ll done. I wish I had the medium-rare option but the burger came pinky and juicy so happy about that. Small green salad and lovely thin French fries.
The restaurant is pretty hidden from the High Street. The staff looked pretty happy what is really important. No body likes to be served by zombies or robots. We were served by Darius who looked to be the manager. All went smooth and quick. Food arrived fairly fast and very well presented. Definitely I recommend this restaurant. £45 with whole lobster and burger or £30 half lobster and burger it is not bad at all for what you...
