I am giving this place a 5 because of the food and drinks! For drinks, I had the lavender lemonade, which changed colors as I started pouring the lemon juice, which was really fascinating to see. I wouldn't recommend dumping all of the lemon juice at once into the lavender mix, which I unfortunately did, because it made the drink tasted like lemonade without lavender. Still good, though!
The créme brulee French toast was out of this world! I have never seen it made this way before but it made perfect sense why they did so. The créme anglaise went very well with the toast and the nuts (and caramel maybe) mixture which were used to resemble the contents in a semolina cake, making it both sweet and savory, so I could see this dish not counting as dessert, either, if they choose to do so. The croissant butter pudding was also excellent, with the flakey croissant offering a nice taste neutralization and texture enhancement to the custard, which was used to occupy majority of the dish. The pecan nuts were a nice touch as well, although not as much as the croissant.
The wagyu quesadilla allowed me to discover a combination that worked that I didn't previously know about: beef and muhamara. Dipping the beef and the tortilla in the muhamara sauce definitely elevated the dish's flavor, and offered some level of spice since muhamara should have roasted red pepper in it. The wagyu beef burger was also excellent not because of the beef itself, but because of everything that complemented the beef, especially caramelized onion and spicy mayo, both offering the beef well-rounded flavor combinations. I thought the beef itself wasn't the best, ans as a burger, it should solidify its role with its protein taste, so that was a slight minus, and all hail to the condiments on this one! The truffle scrambled eggs was soft and pleasant to eat, with no overpowering seasoning and the actual taste of black truffle coming through with the brioche bread. I think I enjoyed this savory dish the most!
Service wasn't the fastest and it seemed like they might be a bit either understaffed, because we had to wave down a waiter only to have a different one come to our table quite a few minutes later. The waiter we tried to wave down told us to wait for a bit when we initially called her. But that did not negate the quality of the food, and I will definitely recommend people visiting this...
Read moreSeverely overrated! Perhaps this is the place for you if you're just going for the Instagram pics but it wasn't worth it for me as I was actually excited for some good food. For starters, we had to queue for about an hour before we were offered one of the two small tables outside of the restaurant. The service was very slow before someone even came to take our order. We ordered a drink each (peanut butter hot chocolate and creme brulee latte) which were an eye-watering £6.50 each so I expected the drinks to be pretty delicious. We also ordered the eggs florentine and the pancakes, only to be told immediately that we would need to let them know of a back up as the pancakes may be out of stock? (how does batter even go out of stock considering this is their most popular menu item???). This was at about 12pm so don't expect to receive any pancakes after this time. Still, we could see that many tables still had pancakes and the waitress reassured us that it would probably be fine. The drinks came out about 15 mins later and were only slightly lukewarm. There were cold, watery and tasteless. We waited and waited for our food and 40 mins later it materialised. The eggs florentine for £14.50 tasted decent but the size of the croissant was akin to a mini size more than a regular and again, the food was only lukewarm. Expecting pancakes, we were not told at all that they were not able to fulfil our request and a switch had been made, but a lotus milk cake arrived at our table. I would have appreciated at least an apology and a heads up that this had happened. The lotus milk cake for £10.50 was tiny and ice cold, like it had just been taken out of the fridge and the flavour profile was mostly sweet with not much else. I cannot imagine how something that was obviously pre prepped with just some cream to pipe on top could take 40 mins to come out. All in all, we were so hungry and dissatisfied, that we didn't even finish our drinks, paid our bill and hopped over to McDonald's for that 20 nuggest sharebox to fill the void that this place left. Bottom line - don't come here if you're expecting a nice, fulfilling brunch date. That isn't what you're...
Read moreWent for lunch on bank holiday weekend. Restaurant was empty so we got seated straight away.
Our food came out pretty quick and tasted good. Ordered the truffle scrambled egg and bbq beef sandwich. Overall give the food 7/10.
However the service was terrible to say the least. We arrived and were seated by 4:45, one of the waitresses very rudely stated that they close at 6 while she gave us menus. We were looking through the menu and deciding what to eat when the waitress came to take our order. We hadn’t decided yet so asked for some more time, instead of leaving us to do decide she lingered for almost the whole time we were making our choice.
We found this very rude and it felt like we were rushed and pressured to leave asap when to it wasn’t even 5pm yet and the cafe closes at 6pm. This was the experience for most that were dining that day. At 5:20 the host went around all the tables and got everyone to pay for their meals in the middle of their meals while stating that it is because they are closing soon. I understand wanting to go home on time and wanting to do closing duties but to rush customers like this is very unprofessional.
Our waitress started clearing our table as soon, she didn’t speak to us just started clearing the table. After the table was clear we were chatting for a bit as there was still just over half an hour before the cafe closed. Our waitress then started to hover around our table again and it made us feel very uncomfortable so we decided to leave. While we were walking out at 5:30 we heard one of the waitresses say that they are closed to customers that wanted to come in and dine.
We felt like we were being rushed the whole time we were there when we arrived in plenty of time. Honestly the food was good but I would not recommend coming to this location as the service is abysmal. I have read previous reviews and there seems to be a trend regarding poor service. I hope the owners start taking this seriously and make some changes...
