I recently had the absolute pleasure of seeing Matilda the Musical at the Cambridge Theatre, and I can confidently say it was one of the most magical evenings I’ve had in London. Based on Roald Dahl’s classic story, the production completely exceeded my expectations.
The performance was nothing short of brilliant. The young actress playing Matilda was incredible—so much talent in such a small package! And don’t even get me started on Miss Trunchbull; the actor’s portrayal was both hilarious and terrifying, keeping the audience entertained throughout.
Tim Minchin's music was a real highlight for me. Songs like When I Grow Up and Revolting Children were catchy, heartfelt, and clever. I found myself humming them on the way home. The choreography and staging were equally stunning, with imaginative sets and lighting that brought the whimsical world of Matilda to life.
What really stood out was how much heart this show had. It was funny, touching, and empowering—a great mix for all ages. Whether you're visiting London or you live here like me, I can’t recommend Matilda the Musical enough. It’s a perfect reminder of how clever storytelling and creativity can leave you feeling inspired. Five...
Read moreThe musical itself was fine, but I've seen much better productions in the west end. But what I was most disappointed by is the lack of care from the ushers towards people being disruptive and talking throughout. Not children, that's completely understandable, but parents talking full volume throughout the show. The ushers had no issue with scolding people filming and taking photos, rightfully so, but frankly, as an audience member who paid a lot of money for tickets, I'd rather they told disruptive people to be quiet instead of focusing on the photography - shows whose interests matter more. Do better, please! Furthermore, I was disappointed by all the staff throughout the theatre. From the rude and impatient security on the door, multiple bag and ticket checks - ridiculous. To the rude staff member at the main desk who served a customer ahead of me and then proceeded to hold a long conversation whilst I was waiting patiently behind during the interval? Incredibly rude, I ended up walking away empty handed so well done to you! Don't waste your time with it, completely...
