Dreadful. I don’t normally write negative reviews but what are reviews for if they don’t reflect actual experiences? We wanted to support a small business as we know they’ve been hit hard lately with the pandemic. Very hard to understand the girl behind the counter who was wearing a mask but speaking very softly while the DLR rattles by right outside. After ordering and a fair amount of back-and-forth about what options were and were not allowed or available, she started making the food..... very, very, slowly... one... jacket... potato... at... a... time... Not sure why this place has “express” in the name, it’s anything but. One potato was put into the microwave for about 20 seconds and then taken out. Cheese and beans were added, then potato put in a box. Then the other potato was microwaved next (separately) and then some toppings applied (the wrong ones actually but like I say it was noisy). I think one of the potatoes went back into the microwave at one point... but not both. Clearly the girl’s first day or something :-( Eventually after what felt like an eternity we had to answer the question about what salad we wanted. Asked for the same options on both potatoes and had to answer this same question several times. During some time nothing was happening I said “shall I pay while we’re waiting” and paid by contactless. Then a few minutes later she went to the til and gave me £4 cash without saying anything, so naturally I asked “what’s that for?” “Oh yeah I overcharged you for an extra potato!” The whole thing took so long once we had the food in the bag I was glad to leave so we walked across the water to the small park in Canary Wharf only to discover when we unboxed the food it was ice cold! Quickly marched back and and asked for a refund and were met with all manner of alternatives and excuses as to why that couldn’t happen; instead I would have to come back on Monday when the manager was in! Lots of heated conversation and a phone call to the manager later - which also took forever... I think they were hoping we’d just give up - eventually she gave the money back. A happy ending...

Previous times I had ordered baguette, so today I decided to try the panini bread.
I asked for panini bread with the meat of my choice. This was prepared and then I was asked about the salad. I kindly asked that I would prefer to have the salad after the panini was toasted. My request was declined! Asking for a reason they said this is the way they do panini and if I wanted to have salad in the panini it would have to be hot and toasted. I advised that I don't prefer the salad to be hot, in which case they said that they would not add any salad.
I kindly asked for clarification why it is not possible to open the panini after is toasted and add salad but they keep saying that is "impossible". I asked for an alternative, to put the salad on the side (so that I would make the impossible, possible myself by adding the salad in the panini by just opening it). This request was also refused with the excuse that this is not possible with it's packaging. I then asked to put the panini in a package that can accommodate the salad on the side. The employee then responded in a very rude manner that if I wanted to have the salad they would only give it to me by putting into one of my pockets!!!
I asked to speak to the manager but I was refused saying the manager was not there and the employee was the supervisor at the time. I was also refused to receive a contact method. What's more, they insisted I had to pay for the panini with the excuse that they had already started working on it. This was outrageous since it didn’t cost anything for them, it was something I wasn't willing to eat and they didn't include half of the ingredients!
I guess what's worse for them is that they made this scene in front of the 20 or so (ex-)customers...
I always had the dilemma between Baguette Express vs Subway since they are next to each other....
Read moreIt's 5 stars when I go there in the nights and the usual night server is always there. He is quick and knows what he is doing and will not waste your time. His customer service is great. Never had an issue with him. Cheers mate.
When I came in the morning recently, I saw this south asian female (for description). Bad service. Rude to other girl there training and hunting for payment while the new person is making my baguette, wasn't even busy or anyone else there. I shouldn't have even been there. It just makes a bad experience.
One morning the owner guy was there and he made me or my friend the wrong sub by his fault, threw out its inner meat content and was using the old bread for my new sub and he's like he doesn't like wasting bread and was angry when we refused that. What's going on? Not how you do business.
Some fillings you'll end up with a great tasting baguette, some you'll end up with a very bad tasting baguette. Jerk Chicken and Lemon Pepper Chicken are great. Coronation Chicken and Moroccan Chicken were absolutely disgusting and not edible, literally. Should not be sold for peoples money. Owner needs to sort it out.
I'll still be going in the nights. Room for improvement in the other...
