I've been here twice - the first time I ordered KFC bibimbap with kimchi fries and rice on the side. That tasted beautiful and I even introduced my sister to Korean food with it and she loved it! The second time I went there I was so disappointed. The man that took my order couldn't hear me properly so I felt like I had to shout and even then he didn't hear me ask for kimchi fries so I had to go back to the restaurant for it (I ordered the Korean sweet chilli chicken buns with kimchi fries and 4 chicken dumplings). So it might be better to order takeaways online. The next problem I had was that it was only when I got home that I saw that one of my Korean buns didn't actually have chicken in it..I literally don't know what it is but I'm guessing some vegetarian/tofu meat. So I was disappointed cus I really love Korean fried chicken and I didn't order this non-chicken meat.. I wanted what I ordered. The major thing that just had me baffled was that the man that took my order was sneezing into a tissue (I only saw this when I went back to get my kimchi fries) and he had not been wearing any gloves. I saw another employee behind the counter (I think she was dishing out food) had on clear/plastic gloves. But this man was actually cooking the food and had no gloves and I was so amazed when I saw him take his bare hands to grab a handful of chips from a bag to fry. If he's cooking food, why doesn't he have on gloves? And if he's sneezing like that, why is he cooking/around food? I'm literally so disappointed but I'm hoping that the next time I go, cus I will give it one more try, that it...
Read moreVisited on Saturday 5th Jul at commercial road branch as a family of 4, important to note we have previously visited this restaurant a number of times and also left a positive review in the past.
But this time really poor experience, we ordered the Halal Korean BBQ priced at £88 plus the beef kimbab £12.40, the BBQ marinated flavours from the meat were non existent, and the portions are definately smaller than before regardless of the excuse reply that will follow this review, they now try to hide this by adding loads more chopped onions with the meat plate.
The staff member used tongs to pick up raw beef to put on to the grill and then used same tongs to pick up cooked mushrooms from the grill to put onto our plate!!, you don't have to be an expert to know tongs used on raw marinated meat should not be used to pick up cooked food!, so we challenged the waitress who clearly looked as though they had no idea on hygiene based on her blank look, and decided we would continue to cook the remaining BBQ.
Staff came across as unfriendly and rushed even though the restaurant was not packed. In the past even from 8pm onwards there would be a queue to enter, not anymore I wander why??.
Real shame as this was one of our go to restaurants in London, unfortunately will not be returning as there are a number of Korean BBQ restaurant in London, who offer better portions, tasty marinated meats and a great atmosphere, all missing from Bento Bab
Bye from a...
Read morefood was average and filling for the price in central london (8.9 for bibimbap and 2.4 extra for two dumplings and miso soup). food arrived quickly too, only waiting around 5/8 minutes. chicken was more batter than meat and bibimbap didn’t come with an egg like it traditionally would but each restaurant does it differently i guess. main problem was with ordering - they ask you to order online but they don’t offer wifi and even though i asked for the wifi password (i could see there were 2 i could connect to on settings) they said it doesn’t work but surely if they don’t work they wouldn’t appear at all so i assume only staff get to use it which is weird considering you insist customers to order online… not good for people who don’t have mobile data or a smartphone. another problem was with the service - the waiting staff failed to even notice we came in and were waiting to be seated despite them not being preoccupied so we ended up going up to them instead after 5-10 minutes. towards the end of the meal they just shoved us our bill without asking if we wanted anything else etc. as they wanted us to leave asap because there were other customers waiting which didn’t make us feel welcomed at all so i don’t think the 10% service charge was justified. overall it’s probably better just for a quick bite to eat or takeaway and not for a proper...
