Recommended by a friend as she has been there before. However this time, the food was AWFUL to say the least (and we are foodies so its hard to disappoint us) to describe the service and food are as follows: Was not offered water compared to other guests (guest before and after us was offered water... which was strange) Steak was tough (medium rare) steak knife couldn't even cut through it. It was swimming in gravy Drinks were bland The veg that came with the Sunday roast were all in 1 bowl that's enough to feed 1 person when we ordered Sunday roast EACH WE HAD TO TELL THEM TWICE TO KEEP VEG SEPERATED FOR MEDICAL REASONS. Still didn't listen (shown in the picture) The cauliflower was scrapings from the bottom of the pot and was given to us TWICE All that me and another friend had was chips and a drink. I told the host I want to just pay for the chips and drink. Restaurant policy is if you do not like your food you take it off the bill..... She said no as she's added a discount to the overall bill. I literally paid for a meal I didn't eat (shown in the picture as we left... and we LOVE steak). Instead of trying to fix the situation, they just hovered around us to hear our complaints amongst each other and just wanted to take our money. Was catastrophically disappointed and have to say with a passion that this place is worse than Turtle Bay and we won't be coming back. Either way, they made that very clear by the way they've handled the situation. Thoroughly disappointed. Wow

What a lovely find, slighty hidden by london bridge. Im sure the locals and workers have found this place as there was a lovely buzz and atmosphere here. Firstly the staff are brilliant and very welcoming (doff my hat to you all). This is a nice, open, friendly and inviting open plan layout type of restaurant. Very modern look and aesthetic, but cosy. The menu was nice with seasonal options, with several items sure to peak your taste buds. I also liked that the menu was not to large and had a clear style. I should also mention the nice wine list which had a couple of goods matches to the food menu. The service was speedy and the overall price for a couple of soft drinks, coffees and main all for about £20 was a nice surprise given the location.

Bermondsey Bar and Kitchen is a great bar on Bermondsey Street. Situated in a large venue which used to be a BBC underground car park, it has a large inside and outside area. The interiors don an industrial look with a large open plan layout. The outside area has lots of seating, cute fairy lights and pretty signage to add a bit of character. We stopped by for a drink outside on a sunny day and had 2 x Pimms and a beer (£21). Whilst, it is not the cheapest place to drink in Bermondsey, it has a great atmosphere. The bar offers all day dining focusing on modern British cuisine which has been designed by the current head chef James Donnelly. They offer themed nights in the week and Sunday roasts. Looking forward to trying them soon!

I cannot overstate how disgusting my experience at Bermondsey Bar and Kitchen was. From the moment we walked in, the place felt unhygienic and badly run. Within minutes we saw mice scurrying across the floor, which instantly made us question how the kitchen was allowed to operate. To make matters worse, our drinks arrived with flies floating in them, and the taste was dreadful; warm, flat, and watered down with half-melted ice. It honestly felt like they were serving tap water with food colouring.

The food was no better. What should have been simple pub dishes turned up stone cold, greasy, and flavourless. It looked like it had been sitting around for hours before being thrown onto plates. We couldn’t finish it; not because we were full, but because it was so revolting. The thought of mice running around the same building while food was being served was enough to kill any appetite.

The atmosphere was chaotic. There were easily over 300 people crammed into the venue, but only three exhausted staff trying to manage the bar, the tables, and the food orders. Service was slow and sloppy, but I refuse to blame the staff. They looked run into the ground, unable to even raise a smile, and I genuinely felt sorry for them. The real problem is whoever manages this place. It is clear there are serious issues from the very top down — poor hygiene, zero staffing, and no care for customers or employees.

By the time we left, I felt dirty, cheated out of money, and angry that such a place is even open to the public. Bermondsey Bar and Kitchen is not just disappointing — it is disgusting. It is a health hazard, a management disaster, and a stain on London’s hospitality scene.

Save yourself the misery and do not come here under any...

The little bar at the end is lovely - nice selection of beers and the bar staff were great. Unfortunately we didn't have the same experience in the restaurant itself. I ordered the special, which was duck breast. It came with mashed potato and broccoli, both of which were very tasty. However, the meat was like no duck I've ever seen or eaten before. I was expecting it to be pink and tender, but it had the appearance of chicken or undercooked pork. It was white with parts that had a jelly-like appearance and was generally very tough. I had to use my partner's steak knife to cut it. When we asked one of the waitresses if that was the way it was usually served, she simply said 'I have no idea, it's a special so we haven't been serving it for very long' and didn't offer to go and find out. Not exactly gracious or helpful! Ultimately we weren't happy paying £16 for a meal that wasn't very nice, and the dish was taken off our bill but with barely any discussion or explanation. Two waitresses served us and one was more friendly/accommodating than the other, but the service overall wasn't good. Once our plates had been cleared we waited for 15 minutes before realising we clearly weren't going to be offered either the dessert menu or our bill, and it took us a long time to flag someone down. Such a shame because we had a nice meal here back in December. From reading other reviews, it looks like poor service is a consistent issue here that hasn't...
