I went to this place on the Saturday and it was too busy as they had run out of buzzers so I went round the corner to Bleeckers and had lunch there. I came back on Sunday, and I'm so glad I got the chance to A/B test these two top quality burger restaurants. It was much quieter on the Sunday, and I managed to order and get a seat and a buzzer without too much grief. Order taken by a human here, unlike Bleecker, which was nice. It didn't take too long for the buzzer to go and I went and got my burger tray, which was brushed steel and quite nice. I would say an improvement on the cardboard containers the Bleecker burger was served in even though I ate inside. I ordered a double classic and fries with a buffaloe mayo to dip the fries in The burger was amazing, sauce was great, and the gherkins were just right. Bun didn't fall apart, and the burgers were medium rare and succulent. The only thing I would possibly change here is maybe swap a seeded brioche for a potatoe bun like Shake Shacks 🤔. The fries were also great, really crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I would say better than Bleeckers. I can't really remember the soda, but hey that's by the by. This is a great burger, and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to any burger...
Read moreThere’s a number of Burger Bars plotted around London and Black Bears Burgers has been in my sights for a while. Looking for a pre-gig bite, this was an ideal choice right opposite Victoria Train Station and sat right on top of the Underground too. Situated inside the Market Halls forming part of a busy, bustling food court.
Being the norm with this style of food court eatery, there’s no table service so ordering at the counter and then eagerly waiting for your buzzer to sound off to alert you your burger is ready. There’s no booze, no ample time to grab a pint from the bars inside.
Had to pick the Black Bears Burger which was the National Burger Award winner of 2024! That’s quite a feat. Doubled up with Dry Aged Beef patty served medium with bacon, cheese, onion jam and garlic mayo with a side of Garlic and Parmesan fries. We did order the Steakhouse Fries which is topped with habanero honey mayo, but got the garlic fries served instead. Weren’t really fussed so didn’t complain.
Fries were good, flavoursome, crispy and fresh and was a decent portion. The burger, was juicy, tasty but quite greasy and wasn’t the best burger I’ve had in London but is still worth the go. Possibly having high expectations with their award...
Read moreI'm someone who is a HUGE lover of quality burgers, and if you're the same, Black Bear Burger is a MUST!
This place is located inside Market Halls Victoria. Google Maps had a difficult time directing me to the entrance of this place and as a result, I actually gave up looking for it, only to accidentally spot it when passing the entrance.
The burger I ordered was by far one of the best and most flavourful burgers I've ever tasted. I really can't get over just how much flavour was packed into this burger. It felt me savouring every mouthful. I also had a side order of parmesan topped fries with garlic mayo too which went down a treat.
Customer service wasn't much to talk about. My experience in London is most places have staff that look like they don't really want to be there and this place was no different.
Regardless I'd highly recommended giving Black Bear Burger a shot and I'll definitely be coming back here. It's an ideal place to go before catching a coach or train as the stations are so close...
