Dovetale
On Saturday we enjoyed a fabulous brunch at Dovetale a restaurant set on the ground floor of the 1 Hotel Mayfair. The food was delicious , the service was very friendly and there’s also a very relaxing atmosphere so when you put all this together it’s an ideal way to start your weekend.
The restaurant s under the name of two michelin star chef Tom Sellers and they have a very good team including head maitre’d and my good friend Matthew O’Connor who along with the amazing Sylwia leads the very friendly team perfectly.
The restaurant is situated on Dover Street which is only a couple of minutes walk from Green Park Underground Station. We entered and received a lovely warm welcome before being escorted to our table. We had a great view of the bar , the restaurant and the outside terrace. The restaurant just like the hotel is all about no waste and they also do a lot for the local community.
The menu which can be designed to be shared consists of oysters , eggs , small plates , main courses , sides and desserts. There is also the option of a brunch set menu and you can choose items from either menu.
We started with the Shakshuka , Moroccan style baked eggs. This was followed by the mains of the House Cobb Salad with crispy turkey , bacon , avocado , blue cheese and tomato , the Waygu Cheeseburger with smoked pickles , 1000 island dressing and fries. Off the set menu we chose Sylwia’s recommendation of the Herb - Fed flat iron Chicken with chilli , garlic , lemon and fries. Every dish was delicious and cooked perfectly.
After a nice break and a chat with Sylwia and Matthew it was time for dessert and to create your very own Knickerbocker Glory. You get to choose tour choice of ice cream , sauce toppings and of course cream. Mine was made the Matthew himself and it was absolutely delicious.
We finished our drinks before heading off thanking the team for a fantastic afternoon. I really would recommend a visit to Dovetale because you get to enjoy fabulous food and service in a very relaxed environment something that’s not easy to find in Mayfair. They are planning to bring back the Sunday Lunch a bit later in the year which is something I will definitely return for if I don’t go back earlier.
Thank You Matthew , Sylwia and all the team for your hospitality and look forward to seeing...
Read moreService was a let down during this lunch visit. When you read about Dovetail the word “Michelin” always seems to be included. We went for the set lunch menu with an extra side to share. The food was good. The salmon belly starter was delicious. The fish pie was good, the variety of fish within was excellent. It came out in its individual bowl on top of a napkin. So if you’re trying to eat your fish pie and want to bring your side food to the plate there is a messy napkin in the middle of it. We played a game of placing the spinach on the side of our plate trying to avoid the napkin. We bought a bottle of wine and after the first pour we said To The sommelier that we would like to pour it ourselves. She was not happy with this and begrudgingly brought us an ice bucket. At no point during our main meal did anyone check on us or ask if everything was okay. At that point e may have asked for a water top up. We had be brought a glass of water each. No bottle of filtered water. No topping up during our meal. Our empty plates were left on the table for an extended period of time. The waiter who gave the table a clean down just brushed the crumbs onto the floor. We were asked if we wanted desert, we said please give us a few minutes. He never came back to follow up. The sommelier never returned to us to check if we wanted anything more to drink. You never know, we might have done. . When we asked for the bill the waiter didn’t say anything and walked passed us. We asked him again, he didn’t say a word and gave us a look that said, what do you think I’m doing. We were shocked. On bringing us the card machines, he did not engage, ask us how our meal was, nothing.
For such an establishment, service should be top notch. I had brought a friend there, with high hopes. We both came away disappointed and feeling a...
Read moreI stayed at Ocean View Resort for a weekend and had a wonderful overall experience. The location is absolutely impossible to beat, with great ocean views from every room and a beautiful beachfront only a few feet away. The resort is in a quieter area, which is perfect for unwinding and recharging.
Room: The room was spacious, spotless, and well-maintained. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the furniture provided a warm, beachy ambiance. The oceanfront balcony was absolutely the highlight; I could spend hours sitting out there, enjoying the fresh air and sound of the waves.
Amenities: The resort offers a range of amenities, including a sparkling outdoor pool, a spa, and a fitness center. The pool itself was immaculate, with plenty of lounge chairs to spare. I did have a massage at the spa, and it was one of the best I've ever received — very professional and soothing.
Service: The staff were very friendly and helpful. Checking in was convenient, and they even gave me some advice on what to do around the location. But I did notice that the restaurant service could have been slightly quicker at peak times, but the quality of food made up for it. The breakfast buffet was very good with plenty of food options.
Location: The location is ideal for anyone looking to explore the area. It's only a few minutes' drive to some local restaurants and shops, and I enjoyed long walks on the beach.
Cons: The only negative was the Wi-Fi. It was a little spotty in some of the areas of the resort, especially near the beach, so at times it was difficult to stay connected.
Overall, I would strongly suggest Ocean View Resort to anyone looking for relaxation in a peaceful, beautiful setting. It is not crowded, and the facilities and staff ensure that it is an ideal choice for a...
