I was so delighted when I was looking for restaurants for our wedding anniversary near Holland Park to discover there was a Sardinian one close by. We got married in Sardinia so it was a sign! Whilst we thoroughly enjoyed our meal, I couldn’t give it the full 5 stars so I shall explain. Pros:- The food was fresh, tasty and looked gorgeous. The service from all our waiting staff that served us was friendly, attentive and excellent. I spotted the traditional Sardinian bread on another table which we hadn’t ordered and when I asked if it was “carta di musica”, the waiter immediately responded and got us a basket. We also ordered a special dish as a treat which has a bit of theatre to it as the fish is baked in a fennel and salt crust and then brought to the table still encased to be opened. This was absolutely delicious. Cons:- It is on the pricier end of things which is expected for the area of Kensington and Chelsea borough. Our event was in Holland Park so we were looking for somewhere close rather than deliberately coming to the area to eat. Had we left 30 minutes earlier, I would have said this was an amazing eating experience. Unfortunately, near the end of our meal, the owner arrived and proceeded to teach one of the staff how to carry plates in full view of the diners. When we arrived the restaurant had been empty and this could have been done beforehand. It was also done in English when the staff had all been conversing with each other in Italian before so it felt this was done to be deliberately embarrassing. The owner made it clear that they could teach them but that if they did not manage to do it they would not be able to continue working there. We left making sure to thank that member of staff personally. It was still brilliant food but the owner’s attitude certainly put...
Read moreThis was my first visit to Edera after hearing positive reviews online. Since I live in the area, I wanted to bring my friend from Italy, who was visiting for the weekend. She works in the hotel industry in Italy, making her the perfect litmus test for a great dining experience.
First impressions: the restaurant was fully booked, which was a good sign. The atmosphere was lively but not overly noisy, and the inviting aroma of the food set high expectations.
The meal itself was excellent. Our starters were outstanding—the chickpea soup was delicious—while the mains were truly sublime. Dessert didn’t disappoint either; the tiramisu was rich and flavorful. In terms of food and ambiance, Edera certainly delivers.
However, there are areas for improvement. Our bill for two came to £120, which felt steep considering we didn’t order wine. While great food can justify a premium price, the service didn’t quite match the standard. The staff lacked warmth and attentiveness at times, and the experience felt rushed—our plates were being cleared before we had finished eating. Additionally, waiting 10 minutes for dessert service was excessive.
It’s possible that regulars receive more welcoming treatment, but if Edera wants to encourage repeat visits and word-of-mouth recommendations, improving the friendliness and attentiveness of service would make a big difference.
Overall, the food was delicious, albeit pricey. Would I return? That depends—if the service...
Read moreTerrible experience. From the moment we walked in, the staff seemed cold and dismissive. First, they delayed taking our order for no reason. Then, one of the waiters made an awkward, passive-aggressive comment to the birthday girl after serving us wine, asking if she was even of legal age. If you want to ID someone, do it upfront—don’t make jokes that come off as shaming.
We were celebrating a birthday and naturally having fun, maybe laughing a bit loud at times, but we were polite and quieted down when asked. Still, the staff treated us like we were a nuisance. When we hinted that it was her birthday, not only did they ignore it, but their response was bizarrely rude - snapping that they “can also give the bill for free” (we just thought they might offer something small like most restaurants do).
There was zero warmth, no “happy birthday,” and frankly the whole vibe was cold and unwelcoming. Totally not recommended, especially for any kind of celebration. Oh and the food was mediocre as well - anyone can cook this themselves in...
