We made a somewhat last minute reservation at fire & spice on OpenTable only to get there and be told that the restaurant was closed for a private event. We were not happy at all however, we were told that we go upstairs to the hotel bar where we could be served. Tired from a long day of sight seeing, and very hungry we obliged. Overall, it was hands-down one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had due to the other guests present who were rude, disrespectful, and chaotic throughout. Don’t get me wrong, the food was great. But The highlight of our night was our waiter, Dhruv. Despite the rest of the patrons being extremely obnoxious and treating him poorly, he remained composed and professional throughout. He was friendly, personable, and extremely attentive to us while simultaneously handling the other guests in a professional manner. All of his recommendations from the menu were phenomenal. Thank you Dhruv, for...
Read moreDissapointing. First of all, the restaurant is located in a basement and the "background music" sounds as if it was played from an IPhone speaker very far away. There was nothing cozy or pleasant about it. Second of all, the food was a huge let down. Minimalistic portions, I paid 14 pounds for a small bowl of rice and a small plate of chickenwings. I thought it was a starter when I saw it, what a joke. Ever heard about sauce? My mates had it even worse, with dry chicken and not enough food. And again, no sauce. A small bowl of plain rice and dry chicken for 16 pounds? Seriously? To sum it all off, this is an overly expensive restaurant without charm. The worst part is that we have no idea what we paid for. The "nice atmosphere"? The "food"? The "nice view"? Worst Indian restaurant we've ever been to. What a joke. We left hungry, dissapointed and...
Read moreI had to actually go and actively hunt for a waiter/waitress to assign a table to me. They seemed really under staffed. I also had to wait quite a long time for someone to take my order, bring my drink etc. The servers themselves seemed nice enough. The food was good. I normally find the Indian food in London lacking in variety and very oily. I thought the food at fire and spice was very good and given I am part Indian I feel I know good Indian food. I had the salmon curry which was delicious. They had a good menu which included vegetarian options and the normal compliment of northern Indian breads. It is located in the basement of the Double Tree hotel so it’s a slightly odd location. I would gladly return again but I do wish they would hire a few...
