Title: A Memorable Dinner Date at Gogi: Fantastic Food and Warm Hospitality
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gogi, and it turned out to be a truly delightful experience from start to finish. Gogi not only impressed us with their delicious food but also won our hearts with their friendly staff and inviting ambiance.
From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we were greeted with warm smiles and a genuine eagerness to make our evening special. The staff at Gogi were attentive, accommodating, and went out of their way to ensure we had a fantastic dining experience. Their knowledge of the menu and willingness to provide recommendations made us feel well taken care of throughout the evening.
The moment we were escorted to our table, we noticed how immaculately clean and intimate the setting was. The attention to detail was commendable, as everything from the tablecloth to the cutlery was flawlessly presented. The cozy atmosphere created the perfect backdrop for a romantic dinner date.
Gogi's menu boasted an impressive array of options, making it a challenge to decide what to order. For starters, we indulged in the spicy pork buns, prawn dumplings, and spicy squid. Each dish was bursting with flavors that danced on our taste buds. The combination of spice and freshness was executed to perfection, leaving us craving more.
Moving on to the main course, we opted for the premium BBQ platter, designed for sharing. It proved to be an excellent choice, as it offered a delectable variety of meats that were grilled to perfection at our table. The portion size was just right for two people, allowing us to savor each bite without feeling overwhelmed. The quality and tenderness of the meat were truly exceptional.
As the evening drew to a close, we couldn't help but express our anticipation for returning to Gogi. The experience was so enjoyable that we are already looking forward to our next visit. Gogi has undoubtedly earned our trust as a go-to restaurant for delicious food, attentive service, and a cozy atmosphere that sets the stage for memorable moments.
In conclusion, if you're in search of a restaurant that excels in both culinary delights and customer service, Gogi is an absolute gem. The friendly and helpful staff, combined with a clean and intimate dining environment, create the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable dinner date. And don't forget to explore their menu—every dish we tasted, from the starters to the BBQ platter, was a feast for the senses. Our evening at Gogi was simply outstanding, and we can't wait to return for another...
Read moreWe heard about Gogi from a friend who lives in Maida Vale and was excited to try it, but unfortunately was disappointed.
Food: We ordered the spicy squid and tang su yuk for starters. Both were just ok. The spicy squid portion wasn’t big, but wasn’t small. The tang su yuk pieces and portion of the dish were very small. For our main entrée we ordered two orders of the bulgalbi which again was also small. The meat tasted good and was BBQ’d on the table. For our side dishes, we ordered kimchi, one bowl of bap (rice) and one ssangchu which is the lettuce for the BBQ.
Drinks: We ordered two bellini spritz which tasted like cough syrup with sparkling water. We could barely drink them so we ordered one diet coke and just tap water.
Price: 71.70 GBP for two people – totally overpriced.
Ambiance: The restaurant is a nice size and clean. The good thing is that they have the BBQ on every table. It’s very dark and has red accents and lights around which seems like they’re trying to create a club feel in a way. Overall, it doesn't have a feel or a vibe unfortunately.
Service: The service was curt and not friendly. I received a call to confirm my reservation earlier in the day where the manager 1) told me that they only hold the tables for 15 minutes and 2) that they needed the table back by 9.00 PM. Our reservation was at 7.30 PM. After she heard my reply of “Oh ok, I didn’t know that when I booked the reservation” she dismissed my comment and said, “See you later tonight”. I was turned off before even going to dinner by the call. The manager who called also waited on us and wasn’t friendly at all. She rushes you and makes you feel very uncomfortable. They also don’t take American Express and she was very rude about giving us the information. Lastly, I was so annoyed because the restaurant was close to empty after telling us we had to give up our table by 9.00 PM.
Would I go back? No. Gogi isn’t that good and has mediocre service. They should be ashamed charging 3.50 for kimchi, 2.50 for bap and 3.50 for ssangchu. It’s lettuce for...
Read moreI'm quite amazed by the reviews as my feeling of our night at Gogi last friday is pretty bad ( even if my girlfriend and I had a lovely date there)
I hope their bibim baps are good cause the BBQ option was terrible.
The whole idea of fun about the BBQ is in the DIY part. Instead of that waiters were coming to our table every 2 minutes to do the cooking. They had clearly no clue of what they were doing, as they were putting the BBQ on a low fire, so the meat was not seared, but chewy and overdone.
Part of the BBQ meat platter consist in FROZEN meat, and they clearly don't care about defrosting the meat first, it's been brought to our table and put on the BBQ frozen. I don't even do this at home for a quick meal.
After the waitress last attempt to clean the bbq with a kitchen towel ending up sticking at the pan (if there's no grease it will obviously stick), we asked to take care of the cooking part.
We had to ask 3 times the side of rice ordered, which came when we were almost finished.
ah, and the best part I've been overcharged £6 for a starter we never had. Yeah, my mistake you would say, I should have check the bill, and realize before leaving the place, but I was distracted cause with good company. And, working in this industry, I like to think that you can trust your host when it comes to the bill.
Gogi is the typical west London Restaurant, where they try to impress you with a nice setting and a layer of (bad) electronic music, but where quality of both food and service don' follow.
Overpriced !! (£26.50 a BBQ meat platter third frozen worth probably £4 of meat without anything else on it; £2.50 for a ridiculous side of uncooked chopped garlic and pepper)
Definitely not a good Korean restaurant, nothing looked Korean except the Kimchi. I had some traditionnal Korean Barbecue in the past and it looked...
