I took my mum here for her birthday last Saturday, and although the location and views are lovely, I’m sad to say that the service leaves a lot to be desired. In fact disgraceful. Firstly we were 3 people and squeezed on to a table meant for 2 meaning the plates of food and drinks could hardly fit and were hanging off the table. Secondly, both the table next to us and ourselves asked the staff to shut the door as it was a cold evening and even when the people who were sitting on the balcony left, they plain refused to shut the door. Both ourselves and the other table who were sitting right next to the door leading to the balcony were freezing and shivering. The excuse the female staff member gave me was that the table was in the way, but I said can’t you move the table slightly please so you can shut the door because we are all really cold, but she said no. To top it all off, my poor mum has had a really bad cold and cough all week because of this, and it can easily turn in to pneumonia when someone has a weak chest, regardless of age. When the other table asked to have the door shut, the manager guy said “no, it’s summer”, very patronising and how rude. We are absolutely disgusted at the disregard and disrespect for their customers well-being. They should have been closing the door of their own accord and putting heaters on for their customers as it was very cold. If you are looking for a restaurant with good food, good service, and any sort of customer care then don’t come here. The food was not good either, and one of the pizzas was cold, the cheese wasn’t even melted on it! I would make way better food than this at home, and it’s too expensive for what it is. What ashame, as it’s such a beautiful location too, although the view isn’t visable at night time due to a lack of lighting. All in all, a...

Read moreI had the most pleasant breakfast here at Cafe Laville.
Its lovely location is sure to catch your attention as you walk by the canal. Enjoying a cup of coffee with such a view is a true privilege, for which I would have expected to pay more, truthfully - prices are very much the standard for London. I came around opening time and ordered a tiramisu and an espresso, for 8.25 and 2.8 £ respetively (no surprises, no service charge!).
I was informed the coffee would take 5 to 10 mins due to some issues with the machine (they politely apologised for this, and at the time of payment again). They fairly served in order of arrival, and in total between seating and having my order on the table it took 15 minutes at most. I found the coffee to be surprisingly good for a simple espresso, and the tiramisu was not just a treat for the eyes but also deliciously creamy and sweet, with the crunchy "waffle bowl” a special touch I enjoyed quite a bit. It could have tasted more like coffee, but I say that about any tiramisu!
Staff were kind, polite and professional, neither sticking by you unnecessarily nor acting cold or unfriendly. I left with a smile on my face!
If anything, be aware that the charming open terrace comes with open air temperature, so it may be slightly chilly.
I truly enjoyed my visit, it almost makes me want to think of an excuse to drop by the area again! Definitely...
