For many years, or more accurate, more than three decades, I have been visiting Hard Rock Cafes on 5 continents. Thus after having been to the heart of all Hard Rock Cafes in London, Old Park Lane, last time in 1993 on my own, I was very much looking forward to a visit this year with my wife and my two adult kids.

I am pleased to say, that this visit absolutely lived up to my high expectations of this particular Cafe and the Hard Rock Cafe brand in general.

We had reserved for August 13th at 6 pm via OpenTable and we arrived about 10 minutes late due to a London bus not coming on time. The delay was no issue at all and we were greeted and led to our table instantly and in the typical cheerful spirit of the HRC by our waiter Alex. We got well informed and started ordering soft drinks and large cocktails (with glasses to be collected afterwards) and a „Classic Nacho“ platter shared between two, „One Night in Bangkok Spicy Shrimp“ and „Boneless Bodacious Tenders“ as entries. Alle three were deligthfully tasty, but the spicings of the shrimps and the chicken tenders deserve a special recommendation. Main Courses were a „Grilled Caesar Chicken Salad“ a „Country Burger“ a vegan „Moving Mountains Burger“ and for me a „Swiss Mushroom Burger“ (see pictures of the latter). All four of us were very happy with our food. It had been prepared skillfully and thus easily reached the truly „legendary“ standard of food in a Hard Rock Cafe. As shown in the picture the servings are legendary huge, too, and thus not only the big hunger was gone - we didn’t dare to „squeeze in“ one of the tempting desserts like the „Hot Fudge Brownie“. Drinks were adding to this situation, my son and I refilled our cocktails each and my wife went for a glass of „Pinot Grigio“ dry white wine, which can be very much recommended, too. I finished my meal with an espresso.

The staff was always very friendly and helpful and my impression was, that at the Hard Rock Cafe there are - despite the well felt overall shortages in the workforce - enough highly motivated people employed in order to be able to take proper care of the customers. Rodrigo, the manager, came to our table several times and checked, if we were as happy as we should be. We clearly were! Conclusion: Very much recommended to go to THE Hard Rock Cafe. The quality of food, beverages and service meet high expectations easily and on top of that you have the good vibes which are another trademark of Hard Rock Cafe. Extra Advice: After your delicious meal go next door to the “Hard Rock Shop” and visit “The Vault”. “The Vault” is a museum in the basement of the “Hard Rock Shop” dedicated to an impressive collection of (not only) rock ‘n’ roll memorabilia. The building used to be a bank and the displays are locked behind the original...

A complete miss. On my 3rd trip to London in 3 years, I was looking forward to FINALLY visiting. Now I wish I hadn’t.

I’ve been an AVID HRC pin collector since before I started traveling, and have accumulated well over a hundred of their pins thru friends & family travels and visits of my own. It always means more to be there and remember the time you picked up that pin, or traded with someone in the shop.

This trip to London was special, with The Mrs and our youngest, her first time out of the US and in a city known for the thing she’s super passionate about: music.

After a day of MILES seeing the sights and pounding the pavement, a treat was in order and we were close to the ORIGINAL HRC. It looked calm from the outside, patio was completely dead, and nobody at the outdoor podium, so optimistically we showed ourselves in.

Enter the letdown. We were immediately met with two hostesses without a hello, just hostility. Just a “how many.” Shocked, my wife answered, “three of us, we’re hoping for drinks and dessert, is that ok?” One hostile hostess snapped “well, we’ve had a lot of walk-in’s today, and are about to have live music.” I said, “Great, we’d love to get a table, and look at the menu.” She grabs three menus and says “you can sit at the bar, or outside on the patio unless you order more.” We sit at a table adjoining the bar and open the menus. Order three bar drinks and a cheesecake to share.

While waiting, I look around the restaurant and count 12+ open four top or more tables, two open seats at the bar, and the complete line of stools in front of the grill completely open.

Our server is overtly short tempered with us during the visit, and doesn’t even check back after we dig in to our dessert - just to collect the empty dish and glasses. I politely ask for the check, keep the 12% added optional gratuity on the tab, pay and leave without a “take care” or even a casual or half-hearted “thanks” from our waiter or hostesses. When we returned to our hotel, I curiously check what reservations look for the rest of the evening and they have availability for a party of 3 every 15min until close. There was another customer there, also happening to be enjoying a dessert and drink from the bar - I hope they had a better experience than we did.

HRC London Management - this is a coachable opportunity for your front of house folks. Everyone that comes in your front door is an opportunity to meet expectations (which should be the bare minimum) or even go above and beyond when you have the ability when time and staffing allows - for a first timer, a casual tourist, or a lifetime HRC superfan - since they’ve ALL chosen your spot. To give zero and ready to turn away customers (midweek and with open tables all night) is...

Review of Hard Rock Cafe London (Green Park)

Hard Rock Cafe London, located near Green Park, is a timeless classic that never fails to deliver an unforgettable experience. As the original Hard Rock Cafe, it carries a rich legacy, combining iconic music memorabilia with delicious food and an energetic atmosphere.

Nachos: A Must-Try

The nachos here are a showstopper. Generously portioned and perfect for sharing, they arrive at the table piled high with crispy, golden tortilla chips. Every layer is thoughtfully crafted—gooey melted cheese, tangy pico de gallo, jalapeños, sour cream, and guacamole create the perfect bite every time. You can also upgrade your nachos with seasoned chicken or pulled pork, which adds a smoky, savory depth to the dish. They strike the ideal balance of crunch and topping, making them a standout appetizer for any visit.

Rum Selection: A Delightful Surprise

Hard Rock Cafe’s rum cocktail selection is another highlight that deserves attention. Their bartenders are true masters of mixing, offering a variety of creative and classic rum-based drinks that cater to all tastes. The Hurricane is a tropical masterpiece, combining dark and white rums with passion fruit and orange juice, delivering a fruity punch that instantly transports you to the Caribbean. For those who prefer a twist on tradition, the Rum Runner is smooth and satisfying, blending banana and blackberry liqueurs with rum and fruit juices.

For purists, the bar also stocks an impressive selection of premium rums from around the world. Whether you’re sipping a straight-up aged rum or enjoying one of their signature creations, you’ll be in cocktail heaven.

The Verdict

From the legendary nachos to the expertly crafted rum cocktails, Hard Rock Cafe London delivers on all fronts. Whether you’re a music lover, foodie, or cocktail enthusiast, this iconic venue near Green Park offers something for everyone. Pair the nachos with a Hurricane for the ultimate Hard Rock experience, and don’t forget to explore the incredible music memorabilia while you’re there! A must-visit...

Absolutely top class!! This was our 3rd visit to the original Hard Rock Cafe (near Hyde Park). The decor and atmosphere is very different to the one at Picadilly Circus - although that one is great too! We managed to book a table a couple of hours before we wanted to go (same day). When we arrived the staff were friendly and accommodating with my wheelchair. We were served in good time but didn't feel rushed. We spotted a member of staff who had served us last year and showed him the photo of him with us when we came in. He was so happy we had come back and had remembered him. He made a point of spending time talking with us, and made sure we were well looked after. It was lovely to see you again Kerry - we hope to come back and see you again soon! There is absolutely nothing we could fault with this place. The staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive, the food was amazing, the live music (acoustic guitarist) was brilliant, the cocktails are the best, the memorabilia around the walls is really awesome - so much music history there. My advice?... go if you possibly can! Definitely the iconic experience if you are visiting London. In terms of the difference between this branch and the one at Picadilly Circus, that one is very up to date, modern looking surroundings, and if I'm honest, probably better wheelchair access. The one at Picadilly has more space and isn't quite so loud. This branch near Hyde Park, is the original. It feels smaller and tables seem much closer together, and it seems much noisier in there. However... we felt like that added to the feel of the atmosphere, which we really liked there. The food is great quality at both places, and I'm not saying that either one is better than the other, but they certainly have a different vibe, so it depends what you are looking for. There is no parking (as with most places in central London) but easily accessible from just about everywhere. Nearest Tube station would be Hyde park corner. Our advice? GO!! If it was possible to give this place more stars we would!
