Home Grown (HG), i.e., Lithe: graceful, agile, flexible. And while this adjective is typically reserved for describing a person, specifically a dancer of exquisite talent, it is in my opinion a thoroughly fitting embodiment of all the HG represents.
As one’s gaze falls upon the dignified Georgian townhomes that line Great Cumberland Pl they would be hard pressed to point out the HG as it’s facade melds seamlessly into the surrounding architecture. And much like a well crafted speakeasy entrance, or perhaps a closer approximation could be drawn to stepping through the looking glass, for upon transitioning from the sidewalk to the foyer you’re greeted by a variety of works and decor that simultaneously captivates and stimulates the mind’s eye.
From there the true fun begins as several paths unfold, each of which leads to a unique Home Grown experience. Proceed upstairs to the art deco lounge and enjoy a beverage on the terrace, or perhaps settle into an arm chair and let the warmth and energy envelop you? Venture past the staircase and into the labyrinthine of dining halls, cafe workspaces, and tea rooms? Or perhaps explore the lower level and its tech startup vibes where you’ll encounter everything from meeting rooms that utilize ping pong conference tables to traditional banquets halls.
Not to mention their rooftop seating and myriad alcoves that are an ideal place for quality time with loved ones, business connections, or just yourself. But I won’t give away all the granular details because this is one of those places you really should experience first hand. And of course every exemplary location is brought to life by the operators, staff, and culinary talent, and HG is no different. From the instant of arrival, up until the sidewalk is firmly underfoot and the front door closes behind you, the professionalism, genuine positivity, and friendliness is palpable. Cheers everyone, and all the best...
Read moreOverall a nice hotel with good breakfast but the customer service is not up to par at all. I accidentally forgot a necklace I was gifted in the bathroom of our room and desperately tried to get it back as it is of sentimental value to me. Nothing. Multiple calls and emails later the result of each interaction with them has been the same. On the phone they promise to contact and help me - however the reality drastically differs from the promised service. I have not recieved a single call/ email hearing back from them. I find this extremely disappointing as I precisely described where I had left the necklace, which room I had stayed in and the date and time I checked out. After realising I had forgotten the necklace I immediately called the reception, which was approximately 3 hours after we had checked out of the hotel, bearing in mind this was over a month ago, so the hotel staff had plenty of time to take care of this issue. All in all, this situation should have been taken care of immediately.
Later add-on: ( After the review on google, the hotel contacted me and provided really good service. Unfortunately they were not able to find the necklace, however replaced it with a new one which arrived at my home. This is absolutely great and niche service the Hotel provided to ensure that their customers are happy. In future i would definitely visit the Hotel again and was really happy with the overall...
Read moreWent for a work event here, but was very disappointed. The venue marketed itself as ‘fully accessible’ but a call earlier in the day from the staff let me know that the lift was out of order. As a wheelchair user, they said I could use an alternative method. Upon arrival, several options were provided by the staff (who were lovely but totally ill equipped to deal with accessibility needs). Option 1) Be carried up the steps 2) Use a small ramp on the outer step, gain an undetermined amount of access to the building. No members of staff knew how to use this ramp, one tried to fit it backwards and it was too steep to be safe. 3) Use the freight lift through the kitchen which was narrow. I ended up going with option 3 as it was the one I felt was safest. All the corridors were very narrow and barely fitted my quite small chair. The staff were very helpful and did their absolute best but should not have been left in this position. The disabled toilet was tiny, and the red cord was tied up - not ok! On the way out in the evening, the lift wasn’t working properly and none of the staff who were in the building knew how to operate it. In the end I was stuck in the tiny freight lift with a male member of the team for 10 minutes.
Not ideal, Wouldn’t go back and definitely don’t...
