UPDATE 03/25: Sadly, I’ve had to revisit my previous 5 star review (copied below) after my most recent visit. More detail below but, in short, the service and atmosphere were a big letdown and I would struggle to recommend visiting until this is sorted out. I don’t know if there’s been a staff change or what, but the service was really poor. I’m not usually one to fuss too much about service but this really affected our enjoyment of the meal. Despite having a reservation and most of the restaurant being empty, we were sat really close to the door on a very cold evening and they understandably have to open the door quite often to access the rotisserie. I can understand sitting someone there if you have nowhere else, but it was weird when there was plenty of other space. I might have asked to move if we’d ever managed to flag down anyone but swiftly gave up and committed to wearing my winter jacket for dinner. If everything else had been good, I’d have been able to overlook this, but sadly it was just the start. We were also next to a set of stairs and kept getting knocked into by staff, sometimes with more or less apology. Our starter was completely forgotten and our mains brought over with no cutlery. We kept trying to get someone’s attention to ask but struggled to find anyone and our mains were rapidly getting cold so I finally just went up to the bar and asked for cutlery which they seemed mildly annoyed about rather than apologetic. Water never refilled, never came by to see if we wanted more drinks. Honestly, it seemed like they just wanted us out of there and we were happy to oblige. Atmosphere had also really gone downhill - there were weird patches of water all over the floor (on a day when it wasn’t raining). The bathrooms were also in a shocking state. No loo roll and a bin overflowing all over the floor with paper towels that people were clearly using instead so it was really gross. Obviously being totally neglected by staff. We also observed one of the bartenders making a couple of drinks with a foam topping and she was just reaching in with her hand and scooping the foam from one drink to another which did not seem particularly hygienic especially given the state of the rest of the restaurant. The food is still good (although salad portion has gotten smaller) but until the other issues are sorted out, I’ll probably give it a miss. I really hope things improve because I’d love to come back to the old Poulet and revise this to 5 stars again! ORIGINAL REVIEW 04/24: It’s a simple concept - chicken, chips (or new potatoes) and salad - but it’s executed so well here! The chicken is really juicy and nicely seasoned, chips are well-cooked and seasoned, but oddly enough my favourite part was the salad. Too often a restaurant says a dish comes with a salad and this means a few random sad pieces of lettuce on the side of your plate, but not here - there was a big pile of fresh leaves in a really tasty, zingy dressing that went so nicely with the chicken. It was so delicious that I’d go back just for a huge bowl of the salad! Service was great, cocktails were nice (we went for spicy margaritas) and the decor / ambience was cool. A great dining option if you’re in that area!

What an amazing place! From the front it looks like a little florists, but step inside and you are greeted with the ambience of an incredible bar with the eclectic decor that blows you away! The staff are outstanding!! So friendly, chatty and helpful. Big shout out to Connie who is an expert on cocktail making. This, coupled with her beautiful nature had us feeling welcomed and comfortable sat at the bar on the comfy, plush bar stools. She has me officially hooked on the best Bloody Mary I've ever tried and deserves an award just for this! Didnt catch (or maybe Bloody Mary amnesia crept in!) all the names but the blond haired guy from Vancouver, the one with the greatest long nails I've ever seen and the lady chef working in the heat with a smile on her face (gutted we didn't get to try the garlic and rosemary potatoes - they smelt awesome). In short - this is a must visit venue and the team should take a bow! Xx

Sonya and her brilliant team at Poulet hosted our engagement party, and the entire evening was perfect and completely unforgettable! All of our guests said they had an incredible time and adored the beautiful space in the Maltby St arch. Sonya was so responsive and thoughtful throughout planning and organised delicious food and drinks. The charcuterie was presented so beautifully that we almost didn't want to disturb it, it was too tasty however and entirely devoured before the end of the night. Mulled wine was wonderfully festive and the new beers on draft are excellent. Additionally, Sonya recommended the incredible Lydia Piechowiak who provided outstanding entertainment for the evening, which was a massive hit with us and all our friends and family. We can't thank Sonya and her team enough for such a great evening and can't recommend Poulet enough for events.

Would not recommend anyone to attempt to book this place unless you want to be massively disappointed and ruin your special occasion.

I visited this venue last year, loved the decor and everything inside it. I emailed them to book my engagement party there for this winter, it was warmly met by their old manager who managed to near enough arrange everything so well. This was back in July.. we had costs, food and drinks sorted..

He explained however that a new manager was coming in and they might want things to be different, so suggested we waited until they started. Worst thing that could have ever happened to us.. we had constant back and forth until September about it. They also didn’t respond on some occasions and needed to be constantly chased. They were not accommodating at all and blamed the main boss for this. Somehow the costs were driven up by a few grand which was never agreed to.

The price went from something quite affordable to something overpriced and quite extortionate to what is being offered.

I wouldn’t recommend dealing with Poulet unless you want a difficult time trying to book an event and someone to run costs up whilst being...
