Simply one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in London. The waiter (Alexandros) was very friendly, but the whole team in general were super enthusiastic about the food they served and it was a pleasure to watch them at work.
Before you order, you’ll be shown all the fresh fish available for the day. The waiter will tell you exactly what each fish is, the ways it can be cooked (raw, steamed, grilled, fried etc) and will ask for your preferences (do you like orzo? Tomato or cream sauce?). From there, they will make some recommendations and will let you choose exactly which fish. We chose the red snapper for raw preparation and the scorpion fish to be steamed and served with orzo. The price is calculated by weight (£135 per kg I think) and is the same rate regardless of which fish you choose.
The raw fish was quite nice although a bit salty for our tastes. Can definitely feel how fresh it was. The real highlight was the scorpion fish & orzo (their signature dish). It was insanely good, probably the best non-Asian style fish I’ve ever had in my life! Flavours were bold but not overpowering, it was a perfectly balanced dish and certainly enough for 2 people. We had the chargrilled lettuce as a side which we also enjoyed quite a lot! You also get complimentary petit fours at the end (an olive oil macaroon each).
I booked my dinner with a special promo at the time, and the promo was accidentally not applied on the bill (I didn’t notice). The waiter caught it after we had paid and left, and immediately called me to ask me to come and collect the refund! He was super apologetic and offered a free dessert (the olive oil custard & sorbet which was divine btw). I really appreciate restaurants with integrity and honesty, and was very happy with how they immediately tried to rectify the mistake.
The ambience was very lux, and combined with the personalized service + small size of restaurant, I think this is one of the better value “luxury” dining experiences in London! You really get a lot out of £90-100 per person here, versus other restaurants that I’ve eaten at in a similar price range.
TLDR highly recommend you try this if you have the budget for a lux dinner (before this place gets too popular and famous, because it...
Read moreI visited in early April that my friends and I had been wanting to try for a while, and it had a rating of 4.9. We ordered the catch of the day sea bream three ways, plus tuna steak, T-bone, and some sides.
🌟 Fish Soup My personal favorite, a tangy fish soup that is like Tom Yum without the lemongrass flavor.
🌟 Raw Fish Thin slices of raw fish mixed with olive oil, slightly tangy seasoning. Although the taste was good, I found having two tangy appetizers in a row a bit boring.
🌟 Fricasse Fish fillet served on a bed of creamy mixed zucchini shreds. The first bite was good, but by the second bite, the flavors seemed to clash since there wasn’t a dominant taste.
🌟 Grilled Fish with Olive Oil Grilled fish head and tail with just olive oil for seasoning.
🌟 Aged Tuna Steak Smoked on the outside and rare on the inside, very tender and not fishy. However, the accompanying sauce didn’t quite match well.
🌟 T Bone Porter House 🌟 Long Beans and Tomatoes added some diversity to the meal, both were good
🌟 Mashed Potato The star of the table! I didn’t expect this side dish to be so delicious. Smoky and creamy, with a mustard seed sauce on top that added both texture and flavor.
✍️ Overall, perhaps my expectations were a bit high. Although there were no major disappointments, I wouldn’t revisit. The seafood was indeed very fresh, and the culinary method were fine, but the seasoning was not particularly impressive. The service was excellent, and I loved the macarons given after the meal, which reminded me of the ones from Pierre...
Read moreI came here in passing and am so glad I was called into this place. I was recovering from surgery and needed high quality, fresh food, which Kima delivered on and more!
I ordered the set lunch, starting with the deceptively underplayed “bread and condiments”. I was blown away by the freshly baked tiger style bread, baked onsite, with the most amazing crispy and tasty crust and softest interior, served with cod roe, salt, olives and olive oil. When I enquired about how they create such a crust, a staff member dutifully went away and returned with a hand written ingredient list. I found that so sweet, which made this humble sounding starter all the more remarkable.
The slices of raw beam were super fresh, and delicious and just alive with nutrients. The fish shank had wonderfully crispy skin and melt in the mouth flesh, served with super long green beans, the likes of which I have never encountered.
The citrus curd dessert is a must try, as it was like nothing I had ever experienced before with the savoury additions of herbs and olive oil! A winning combination that I will return to now I have discovered it.
Staff were so sweet, humble and kind. This is a special place with real and delicious food, served with love, creativity and generousity, at a fair price. It makes eating at many other places feel like a compromise in freshness, quality and...
