Maroto Restaurant London – A Brazilian Culinary Gem
Maroto Restaurant in London is a hidden treasure that brings the vibrant flavours of Brazil to the heart of the city. My friends and I recently dined here, and from start to finish, the experience was nothing short of exceptional.
Starters to Remember
We kicked off with the Cured Seabass, beautifully presented with sakura soy, orange, jalapeño, and radish. The combination of citrus and spice made for a refreshing, delicate bite.
The Caviar with Smoked Haddock, Lemon Cream, and Chives had an irresistibly smooth texture that elevated the dish to another level.
However, the standout for me was the Bone Marrow with Guava-Glazed Short Rib, Tapioca Taco, and Cashew Cream—an absolute must-try. The rich, smoky short rib paired with the subtle sweetness of guava and the crunch of the tapioca taco was pure genius.
Mains that Steal the Show
For the mains, the Barreado, a traditional Brazilian beef dish served with polenta and chimichurri, was sublime. The slow-cooked beef was meltingly tender, and the polenta provided the perfect creamy balance.
The Tacaca, featuring cod, brown butter, and brown shrimp, was equally sensational. This dish is bound to become a favourite among visitors—the depth of flavour was incredible.
Sides & Desserts The Mushroom Rice with Black Bean, Coriander, and Soy Dashi was a generous portion, perfect for sharing. We also loved the Cassava Chips with Malagueta Chilli Mayo, which added a delightful crunch and spice to the meal.
For dessert, my friends enjoyed the Cachaça “Clementine” with Mint and Lime Leaf, which they found light and refreshing.
I personally adored the Savarin with Cinnamon, Pear, and Açaí—a perfect ending to a flawless meal.
Drinks & Service
All the mocktails were refreshing and well-balanced, and you can’t go wrong with Fevertree mixers. The service, led by Aaron and his team, was impeccable. Every dish was expertly explained, and the staff were warm, knowledgeable, and accommodating—especially when it came to halal options. Mark Tolentino is a very talented chef and I thoroughly enjoyed every dish he made.
Final Thoughts Maroto is an ideal spot for a date night or a lively evening with friends. With its unique take on Brazilian cuisine, impeccable service, and welcoming atmosphere, this restaurant is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be...
Read moreI've heard about this place by websites, Google maps and other sources, but what pushed me to get into this place was the discount they are offering every Wednesday and Thursday by a famous London website. Once I got inside, I met Sarah the receptionist, she's a real asset for this place, very nice, kind and professional, she took care of my reservation, then she put my bag in the cloakroom as I asked, and then she took me towards my reserved table. It was quiet at the beginning as the restaurant had just opened, but afterwards the atmosphere started to get more excited, more people were getting inside the restaurant, later the dj started to play at the console, and the entire atmosphere was superlative. About the food I've been super satisfied about the choice I made from the menu, Ali the waiter who was in charge of my table has been attentive to my orders and very friendly and professional, another real asset for this restaurant. What I ordered first was the Samba Paloma cocktail, good taste and makes you feel like in a different part of the world. From the food menu instead I chose the beef tartare as starter, spiced properly and nice to taste, from the mains I chose the whole chicken, one of the best delicious whole chicken I've ever eaten in the UK, the meat was so tender and that you can remove the meat from the bone easily, taste was succulent, juicy and easy to digest, and then as a side I had wild mushroom risotto, it also deserves a 5/5 vote as it was cooked at a perfect time, the mushroom sauce that cover the entire rice was so delicious and all the flavour made myself happy for what I ordered. Ali was very impressed when I finished the whole chicken plus the rice as the chicken portion was very big. At the end I had a double espresso and the dessert, I chose the salted caramel pate à choux ice cream, basically it's a big pastry filled with vanilla ice cream inside, everything covered by a salted caramel sauce, at the first sight doesn't look good to look tbh, but it tastes so nice once you try it, it was the perfect choice from the menu to complete my dinner. This place deserves 5/5 for everything, it might be an expensive restaurant, true, but the quality of this place deserves all the money you spend. Highly recommend. It's really...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Maroto in London after receiving an Instagram invitation with a discount while I was in the area for work. We decided to check it out, and I must say, the experience was largely impressive. From the moment we walked in, the ambience was amazing, stylish, welcoming, and complemented by great live music. The menu offered fine dining dishes, and our waiter, Vini, gave excellent recommendations that we thoroughly enjoyed. The cocktails were also spot on. I had a couple of Sazerac, which was expertly made. However, there were a couple of service-related issues that slightly impacted the experience. Shortly after we sat down at 6:30 PM, the receptionist informed us that our table was available only until 8:15 PM, which felt a bit unwelcoming. Later, while we were still enjoying our cocktails after dinner, a waiter unexpectedly asked for the napkins we had on our laps, which we still needed for our drinks. This felt quite abrupt and unnecessary. When we addressed this at the end of our meal, the waiter was apologetic, explaining that it was under the manager’s instructions. That said, the food, drinks, and overall atmosphere were fantastic, and I see great potential in this restaurant. Despite the minor hiccups, I will definitely return, confident that next time the experience will be even better, possibly deserving of a...
