I came here and sat in beautiful corner seat by the entrance. I opened my meal with a Hambledon sparkling NV as I looked over the rest of the restaurant who were all unaware of the decadence that I was about to engage in due to my dishevelled appearance.
I ate eggs casino with my sparkling, a great pairing and a beautiful way to start the meal. In fact, I think eggs casino was the best presented dish of the evening. On the back of this I decided to not eat any mains, but instead two starters. Buoyed by the fact I could pair them both with white Burgundy.
I had the veal tartare which was exquisite. The flesh had been treated somehow, I think cured, because it has this amazing muscley texture. All of the other elements served with it were so beautiful and subtle it let the flesh sing through.
I then climaxed with the cabbage wrapped grouse and pork. A great English nod to the Austro Hungarian classic. The broth it was served in was so beautiful, pure joy and bold salinity without any overbearing salt notes.
I then had a red burgundy intermission as the kind patron put it. Again a beautiful glass. Cherry and almond nose, strawberry and walnut on the palate.
I finished with a thick and creamy Panna cotta and Riesling full of rubber and burnt paper.
I did like the way the food was presented, but it could have had a starker, bleaker presentsyion to really resonate with me personally. Presentation more akin to the signature sole dish.
The decor is beautiful and provides great atmosphere. Its almost too well thought out but in terms of furnishing and lighting fixtures it's lovely.
Thank you to all the staff who were honestly such great people and made me enjoy my dining experience much more than I would have...
Read more6.1.23: Outstanding meal, wonderful service, fantastic vibe, somewhere to spend a couple of hours feeling utterly content and at one with the world. Just to say thanks yet again for a delicious meal, a wonderful time, something that makes not only a day but the fact of living in London, despite everything (weather, prices, and all), seem extra special and a pure joy. Happy New Year, may it be a wonderfully successful one for you all, and in which I´m sure that I´ll be back to be delighted and excited yet again by everything about your menu both set (a top deal) and even a la carte on our next celebratory occasion.
4.11.2022- Wonderfully warm welcome, sensational service, and deliciously fabulous food served perfectly prepared by charming people in more than generous servings. Every dish I ordered amazed my by its magnificence, made me smile, in fact nearly squeal for joy, and the plates left empty. I love mackerel anyway but never realized it good be so brilliant, an oozing oily omega 3 rich inspiration, the venison haunch was pinkly substancial and full of flavour. Even the radishes were remarkable, in fact more than so. The wine was great, advice received perfectly pitched, and the buttery madeleines a richly indulgent surprise gift. I left feeling as if my mind, body and stomach had been wrapped in a warm inclusive hug for over 2 hours, a sensation that remains with me this morning, thank you to everyone involved. Noble Rot Soho is my new favourite restaurant, even if one saved for special occasions. Then again the set lunch is calling me already....and I can´t wait to go back. Thank you yet again,...
Read moreSlightly larger than tapas with wine pours of all sizes! Their nibbles, starters, and mains are all fair portion sizes (except their special which is massive!). They even have pours of 75ml, 125ml, and a full bottle to choose from.
We began our date night with the savory choux. At first glance, it looks like it will be a sweet bomb in your mouth; however, it was a savory mix of textures and flavors 😀. The Tokaj jelly went so well with the pate.
Next up were the starters. We went with a salad, a black pudding, and a spatzle. While they all were delicious with surprising contrasting texture, the spatzle sprinkled in truffle stole my heart - or stole my taste buds!
Our mains were the rabbit and the polluck. I wasn't too impressed by the polluck, but the pairing of the Gamay and the rabbit made for the perfect, warm, savory meal on a cold, bleak, January night in London.
We finished our meal with the cheese plate. 🧀 I prefer soft cheeses, but their hard cheese had a strong, nutty flavor from the crust.
Of course, we need to talk about the wine. This place has 3 options for ordering wine: a taster, a glass, and a bottle. We went for a mix of tasters and glasses. They have such a wide variety of wines; we couldn't just choose one!
We'll be back, and hope to try the other...
