I was taken to this establishment, for father's day. On arrival, we were pleasantly greeted by reception, made our way up , to the dining section, once again met, by a very pleasant person. We were taken to our table, all good. We were given both drinks & food menu's, all was explained. My daughter asked about a promotion, where on F.D. a complimentary cocktail, will be given, by the firm, very nice. We were told, by a charming waiter, that this promo, only comes with F.D menu, to which my daughter, pointed out, on the firms website, it was offered to fathers who were choosing from the a la carte section, a little embarrassing to say the least. The kind waiter made an enquiry, with the manager, all good to go. Shortly after i saw a table being cleaned, by a very enthusiastic waiter, so much so, he was spraying his cleaning product, on the table, without removing the open condiment, how strange, i thought, which put me off using, the ones placed on the table my daugher and i were sitting on. We ate & chatted, and i observed, a weary waiter, with a tray of food, balancing it on the top of a chair, before placing it on a customer's table, how odd, i thought, as i continued to observe, i saw a waitress, place items from the same table, for which food was being delivered to on a chair, how odd. By this time our main course's had arrived, our friendly waiter, holding a tray of , what i guess was hot food, for which, from memory sounded like Jesus !!!, at the moment, i did offer to help, for which he very kindly declined. So you lovely people, may be wondering, what's with the essay...... . In my opinion, this establishment failed on many fronts. For the men at the top, get ypur commmunication right with your staff, it avoids embarrassing situations, as we experienced. In terms of health & safety, give your staff training, that their not to spray cleaning products onto the condiments, customers may eat. Lastly to avoid waiters balancing piping hot food on the edge of the top of a chair & holding a tray in their hand, invest in a trolley, better still have a robut deluvery service. I have eaten at many places in the U.K. and abroad, this is by far one of the poorest experinences, ibhave had, the customers are paying top money for a poor experience, compounded by average food, its time to up your game !!! Finally i was told, the firm is about to open its first branch internationally, good luck, if its anything like the...
Read moreI don’t like leaving negative reviews but this place truly was one of the most disappointing meals I’ve ever had. I had such high hopes given its reputation in other cities but the food was so poor, nearly every dish was bad:
Chicken truffle shumai- there’s one single tiny slither of truffle to split between the 4 shumais, didn’t make sense. Should have had a bit of truffle on each piece.
Ibérico wor tip- whatever the sauce it doesn’t complement the flavour of the meat.
Yellowtail sashimi: could have been ok but there was an uneven number of garnishes to sashimi pieces, so each piece doesn’t have a consistent taste.
XO scallops- over cooked
Lamb chops- lacked any real seasoning
Black cod- undercooked
Lobster- It’s such a confused dish. For £79 I’m expecting an incredible lobster, instead the lobster meat has been taken out, cooked in tempura style, put back in. This just leaves the actual lobster meat tough and void of flavour. Plus there was zero sauce or condiment provided with the dish, which is standard for tempura, so it just tasted very dry.
Year of the tiger- it was fine, nothing special but no complaints.
Bubble tea cheesecake- tasted nothing like cheesecake. This overly sweet tasting substance is provided to add it and just none of the flavours work together.
What was absolutely perplexing is as a Chinese restaurant they did not have chilli oil. When we requested it we were offered soy sauce or Sriracha…
I will caveat all this with the fact I went when the restaurant was in its soft opening, but even then I wouldn’t expect the kitchen to be soo poor. I wanted to like it, I kept hoping the next dish or course would redeem itself but it never did.
I’m not going to really comment on the service as it was a soft opening and the purpose is to train staff. An order was messed up but the manger was quick to rectify it and took it off the bill. I’m sure the service would be decent now the staff have been fully trained.
On the positives, the space looks amazing and clearly they have invested a lot of money on it (wish they used some of that improving the food). The dishes all look very well presented and I have no doubt you’ll see your social media feeds filled with pictures of it but if you actually care about the taste of the food I would not eat here. It’s completely style over substance.
I hope my experience was isolated but even paying half price for the food, I didn’t think it...
Read moreI went to Tattu for my Mums Birthday today after seeing many good reviews. I was extremely impressed with the astetics as I was shown to my seat. We went for the Moonstand lunch. We ordered the Red belly Pork, sweet & sour pork, Beef spring rolls and the Wok Friedangry bird, jasmine rice & the Bean sprout noodles.
The Red Belly Pork was very very nice. Lovely and tender. The sweet & sour pork was not that great. I found the flavour to be a bit confusing 😩🤦🏽♀️ lol. It wasn’t quite tasting of sweet and sour. The Wok fried angry bird was ok, but I don’t think I would order that again as I found the pieces a bit hard and chewy. Everything else was fine. The Bean sprout noodles was very nice and preferred it to the jasmine sticky rice as my side order. The Beef spring rolls were very very nice and packed with nice shredded pieces of beef with a lovely chillie type of sauce to accompany it.
For dessert my Mum had the cherry blossom with candy floss my mum said it was very nice. I had the sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream and it was very tasty! The ice cream was ok but I’m not quite sure it tasted of vanilla 😩🤦🏽♀️. It tasted very unique lol.
My cocktail was a peach billini and it was nice. My mum ordered a pina colada, but she wasn’t to happy with the taste, as she could taste a lot of lime in it rather than coconut. Dennis our waiter was very quick to resolve this issue, and the Manager personally came out to speak to us about their classic pina colada. He was quick to offer us a replacement as he is the person that makes the cocktails.
I was very impressed by his mannerism & professionalism that he showed. The replacement drink was perfect and had a better flavour.
The customer service which we received by our waiter Dennis was excellent! He was very polite, and had a warm and friendly aura. Thank you Dennis 😊
I would definitely visit again in the near future, but maybe make different food choices.
They offered my mum a Chinese birthday cookie which was very sweet of them. However it would be really nice if they could introduce a better birthday dessert plate with writing on it.
I would fully recommend this restaurant to someone who wants to celebrate a birthday or special occasion as this restaurant was beautiful...
