Rude manager, incompetent staff. Place was not busy (I now know why!). We ordered our food (half of what we originally wanted wasn't available). When we got to our table, I saw two plates of fish and chips sitting on a hot plate. They stayed there for at least 10 mins before the waitress (who was in the room the whole time) eventually brought them to their owners (at the front of the bar or outside - they could not see the hot plate). Guessing that the same would happen to us (we were sitting beside the hot plate, which by the way did not look very hot, it was just lights over the the plates), I stayed alert. After 20 mins, a couple of plates were put on the said hot plate. The waitress collected them straight away (yeah!) and brought them to the table behind us. They declined the food, as it wasn't for them. The waitress did not bother asking us (sitting beside that table) if the food was ours, she put the plates straight back onto the not so hot plate and cleared a table. We didn't know if the plates were for us, so we waited, and waited, and waited, looking at the hot plate and the waitress. For about 5 mins. She then left the room, my friend went to the bar to ask where our food was, eventually came back 1 min later with the waitress, who, 6 mins after putting our food on the not so hot plate. So I remarked that our food had been sitting on that not so hot plate for 6 minutes and that it was not appropriate (as it was lukewarm). She really looked like she didn't care (well, that's the way it is kind of attitude), which is the thing that annoyed me the most!!!! Manager came to see us a couple of minutes later, asked us to leave without allowing me to give my side of the story!!!!!! He was really antagonistic, verging on violent, in my face, asking me to leave. I said I wanted to wait for my friend (who was waiting for a refund - which he offered us without us asking for one, but looking at other reviews, he seems to make a habit of this), and I did wait for my friend, while he was right into my face asking me to leave. A couple of mins more and he would have hit me.
I don't care what age your staff is, they should be trained. That's the manager's responsibility. Get them to smile to customers too, a smile goes a long way. Leaving our plates (and the previous customers' plates) 6 minutes (and longer for the previous customers) is NOT good pratice. Giving out our food to someone else and then putting the food straight back on the hot plate without even asking the other customers in the room who were obviously waiting for food if it wasn't for them is NOT good practice. I used to be a waitress myself when I was 18 and I would NEVER had behaved that way. NEVER. Shouting at your customers is NOT good practice (in front of other customers too!!!) However, after subsequently reading reviews, it looks like the rudeness of the manager and the incompetence of the staff is a...
Read moreSome pubs serve good quality food with fresh ingredients, but NOT O’Neill’s. After a long shopping I wanted to enjoy a burger on Carnaby street and whilst I pass by O’Neil’s and they advertised so well on the stand outside the pub, I said to myself let’s give it a try. I wanted a simple burger ( double patty for proteins) and so I ordered the chargrilled one that comes with chips. Waited probably 3 to 5 minutes and the burger arrived. I was surprise for the speed and happy as I was very hungry. Started eating and notice that the burger it was 1 cold and 2nd it had bacon and cheese. None of these ingredients should have been in with my order. I spoke with the member of staff and explained the situation. The staff are very attentive and always making sure that the tables are clean and in order. They apologise and then offered to change the burger and bring a fresh one. The second burger came fast as well, however the patties tasted strange, decided to open the burger and taste the meat alone. It tasted like a vegan patty and the “meat” was not even fresh. You can tell about that if you are a burger lover. I must say with disappointment that I raise from table immediately left the venue only thinking that it was an awful burger for £15! When you have a burger you expect fresh, juicy meat and ingredients especially if it is a classic burger. I could have had a better value in McDonald’s! Unfortunately staff attentiveness could not over come the luck of genuine fresh food! Very bad O’Neil’s! Pub on one of the busiest shopping...
Read moreYou are going to say that I work for O'Neills or that I have been paid to write this. Not so. We just wanted a economical meal before a show a the nearby London Palladium. We didn't expect much. Lets face it, this is a central London pub that is part of a chain. It deserves to be nothing much. You know, just a mediocre meal served from a bored cook in a busy kitchen. We were gobsmacked. Truly amazed. My other half had the Mixed Grill with an addition of some Scampi. Hot chips, that she needed to be allowed to cool before they burnt her mouth. Peas that were fresh, bright green, tender and sweet. Great Chicken breast. Beautifully juicy but with a well browned outer surface that was well seasoned. Her small piece of Rump Steak was correctly cooked to an excellent Medium Rare. Flavoursome Sausages. Not the best I have ever tasted, but not some bread filled cheap tube. The Scampi was juicy. My Rump was again cooked wonderfully. You could tell the difference between the two steaks, which showed how well they were cooked. The flat mushroom was nicely cooked through to develop the flavour. Okay, the tomato could have done with being under the grill for a little longer, but now I am quibbling. Being disabled, I have a habit of checking the disabled toilets. No problems at all. The red cord hung right to the floor and all other facilities were as they should be. Oh, it was clean too. If I am going back to London any time soon. I will head back there given any sort of choice. Excellent. I could...
