A bit disappointed as I love to go to Rosa Thai, and have gone to other venues around london for years, and I’ve decided to try this venue in Queensway for the first time ever, as I work on the same street. I don’t think the Queensway environment reflected the normal lovely vibe of Rosa Thai I normally experience. Had to return one of the main dishes as it was very salty, I reckon it was one of the specials with minced chicken rice. The lovely waitress accommodated the request explained the sauce of the dish is salty, which I understand, it was flavourful, but the levels of saltiness were too much even for a Thai dish, so I’ve decided to choose another dish. I went with another main with rice which was lovely. I had one of the Thai lemon teas which was very very sweet, had to ask the waitress to put more ice and water to kill the sweetness. Maybe quality test the drinks before servicing it to customers. Lunch service needs to be more attentive and the staff need to be trained a bit better. I understand the restaurant was almost empty at around 2pm time, but there needs to be someone on the floor. I was in a bit of a rush and I was too full to finish the main course so I wanted to take the rest as takeaway and save space for a cheeky dessert. I had to get up and go to the bar to try to order a dessert and the bartender had her back facing the bar and was on the phone, which I ignored. I asked her if it was possible to pack my lunch as takeaway and asked for the dessert to eat in and the bill to be delivered at the same time. After quite some time another waitress returned with a takeaway packed dessert, the bill and apparently my main dish had been thrown in the bin. I can understand there might have been some misunderstanding but the whole experience really threw me off. And the waitress expected me to pay for the whole bill in full to which I refused as half of my lunch went to the bin and I didn’t get to enjoy the dessert inside the restaurant. The kind waitress after checking in with her colleague (which I think was the bartender on her phone) removed the dessert off the bill and had it on the house, and still left the service charge on. I think the right way forward should have been to have taken initiative from the beginning, discount my lunch at 50% and removed the service charge and it was obvious I didn’t have a good time and the service and experience wasn’t great. From a person who also works in hospitality, I would love to see improvement on your staff training and...
Read moreI recently dined at Rosa’s Thai and was absolutely blown away by the authenticity and flavors of the dishes. From the moment I walked in, the cozy, warm ambiance and the friendly staff made me feel like I had stepped into a little slice of Thailand.
To start, I ordered the Tom Yum Goong soup, which was a perfect balance of spicy, sour, and savory, with plump shrimp and fresh herbs. The flavors were incredibly vibrant, reminding me of the street food markets in Bangkok. For the main course, I chose the Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) with chicken, and it was hands down the best I've ever had. The wide rice noodles were perfectly chewy, and the sauce was rich with just the right amount of heat and umami. The fresh basil and crunchy vegetables added a delightful texture and aroma to the dish.
The standout of the night, however, was the Green Curry with tofu. The curry was creamy and thick, with a beautiful depth of flavor from the fresh coconut milk, green chilies, and kaffir lime leaves. The tofu was well-cooked, absorbing the curry's essence, and the mix of bamboo shoots, eggplant, and bell peppers created a delightful contrast of textures.
To top off the meal, I indulged in their mango sticky rice dessert. The sweet, ripe mango slices paired with the warm, slightly salted sticky rice drizzled with coconut milk was a perfect end to a fantastic meal.
Overall, Rosa’s Thai excels not just in delivering authentic Thai flavors but also in creating a welcoming and homely atmosphere. If you're looking for a true taste of Thailand, this place is an absolute must-visit!
In fact, I loved it so much I wrote a poem about my experience…
In a bowl of Tom Yum, the colors collide, Reds and greens in a spicy tide. Lemongrass whispers, chilies ignite, Each spoonful a burst of warmth and light.
Green curry simmers, a creamy delight, With eggplant and tofu, so tender, so right. The fragrance of basil, the touch of lime, A symphony of taste that transcends time.
Golden mango, sweet and pure, Sticky rice, a comforting cure. Drizzled in coconut, a heavenly blend, A meal so perfect, you hope...
Read moreI had high hopes for my recent visit to Rosa's Thai, especially since I had a reservation for a special event. Unfortunately, the experience was nothing short of mortifying.
Upon arrival, my fiancé and I stood at the door for ten minutes while a young waitress blatantly ignored us, despite making eye contact. Eventually, she seated us with a noticeable lack of enthusiasm and slammed the menus onto the table, causing them to slide off. This was an embarrassing start to our evening.
As we waited to order, the same waitress continued to ignore us, choosing instead to chat with a man at the bar about a colleague's birthday. When another waitress finally noticed us and took our order, she seemed shocked that we hadn't been attended to earlier. She confronted her colleague, who dismissively admitted she "forgot about those two," followed by laughter.
To add insult to injury, I requested tap water but was given a bottle, which I had to pay extra for without any prior notice. When it came time to settle the bill, I asked for the service charge to be removed due to the appalling service. The waitress rudely scrunched the paper, rolled her eyes, and reluctantly changed the bill. As we left, I overheard her complaining to a colleague about our refusal to pay the service charge.
The food was another letdown. While the prawn crackers and shrimp were decent, the drunken noodles were an absolute disaster. The dish was incredibly dark, drenched in soy sauce, and only had three to four prawns per plate. Having dined at Rosa's Thai before, I know this is not their usual standard. The dish was far too salty and nearly inedible.
I am deeply disappointed by this experience. Rosa's Thai has always been a favorite, but the rude service and poor food quality have left a sour taste. I expect some form of apology or corrective action for this disgraceful experience. I would advise others to think twice before visiting...
