Sofra — Restaurant in London

We were walking around Mayfair looking for a restaurant that seemed nice and occupied, so we could enjoy our dinner. As we walked by Sofra, it seemed really pleasant, so we decided to eat there. As soon as we entered, the manager (I assume it was him, as he wasn't dressed all black as the rest) asked in a quite rude tone whether we booked a table or not. We said we haven't so the only table he offered us was the probably most uncomfortable one we could've gotten (at this time the restaurant was half empty and we could've easily have been seated at a much more comfortable table).

However, we didn't think much about it until the waitress arrived. She was pretty rude as she neither smiled nor talked in a nice tone to us. Anytime she arrived at the table to bring us anything, we said thank you. She just proceeded to give us a cold stare, continuing her work. We thought she could've a bad day, so we didn't want to judge her. But after some time it really was too much off it, as she started reflecting that bad energy on us as well. She also took the food away while we were still eating.

Now the food. We ordered simple dishes, nothing too special. The Coca Cola was amazing, the lime was fresh and it was the right amount of ice. The so called "Gourmet Fries" were dry and half cold. It wasn't hard to tell that they were straight out of the freezer. The Ratatouille was good and the Burger was fine as well. The buns weren't grilled, so the burger was a little chewy. However we feel like the meals were a little overpriced for their taste.

We wish nothing but success to this business, but we won't visit again. If we hear that the behavior of the staff changes, we would rethink the decision. We just didn't...

Avoid if you only want dessert - you'll be asked not to return!

I visited this Turkish restaurant in London with my party and had an extremely disappointing experience that I feel compelled to share with future customers.

What happened: We ordered dessert from their menu (which was actually quite expensive £67 for only 4 conafa desert ). Despite the restaurant not being busy at all, after we finished our meal and paid our bill INCLUDING a service charge, the owner / manager told us "not to come back next time for dessert only."

Major Issues:

🚫 Hidden policies - If they don't want dessert-only customers, this should be clearly stated on the menu or by staff when you're seated, not after you've already paid

💰 Charged service fee for poor service - We were charged for service despite being made to feel unwelcome and essentially banned from returning

😤 Rude and unprofessional - There's no excuse for treating paying customers this way, especially when the restaurant wasn't even busy

📋 False advertising - They list desserts on their menu but apparently don't actually want people ordering them

The Bottom Line: If items are on your menu, customers should be able to order them without being shamed or banned. This kind of treatment is completely unacceptable in London's hospitality industry. The food may have been decent, but the customer service was appalling.

Save yourself the embarrassment and go somewhere that actually welcomes all customers.

This was the worse resturant I have been to. If I could give less then one star I would!!

Pictures look nice online and sound nice over the phone, that's where it ends trust me!! The starter I'd give a 5/10, my main then came while eating my stater, the waiter did not smile once, I had a draft coming from the door, my food came out cold and I had to ask for it to be warmed up it got MICROWAVED. For this type of location I had high expectation not to be let down and some how I ended up in a cramped claustrophobic room sat with my wife on a silly table. I need to emphasis on the staff who were very rude which gave me no choice to inform him to remove the 12.5% service charge AND on top of this, I did not even get a bye or thank you.

Water was luke-warm Bread was hard Food was bad I'm thinking of getting something else to eat now from a local kebab shop.
