Yesterday me and my family went London for a family day out , had a wonderful day , anyway in the evening around 8.30 pm we went to Sripur Indian restaurant in Tower Hill near Tower of London, there was 11 of us British Asian family including my 2 lil nieces, 1 of them has severe allergies to nuts, fish, coconut, anyway from the beginning restaurant was not to busy just 4,5 other customers, they did not seem happy to see us , although Asian like ourselves the staff , they thought maybe we some sort of beggars or scavengers , anyway we sat down , after few minutes they did not even ask what drinks we would like, 1 waiter came n asked u ready to order ?? Even from the beginning it felt they saw us differently , why ? Iv no idea! Anyway we said we not ready to order , but ordered our drinks few went for cokes and few went for water , anyway as we are Muslims we can’t drink water from wine glasses l, as it’s haram , we asked for normal drinking water glasses as we did not want to drink from wine glasses , the waiter goes it’s ok , just drink from them wine glasses already provided?? Was not happy about this , then this other waiter changed the glasses , from the beginning sadly it felt like we where in for a challenging night , anyway after ordering drinks we ordered few poppadoms , the poppadoms tasted oily n overcooked , also the chutneys bit overpriced in terms of they charge you per head not per chutney, they only gave us x2 chutney trays to share between 11 of us instead of 3 , anyway after few minutes, 1 of the waiter came n took 1 of the chutney trays away , we where not even done eating the poppadoms. Anyway we where ready to order , my brother told the waiter please be careful as 1 of my niece has severe elegy to nuts, coconut, fish , but the waiter was talking over us , saying it’s ok it’s ok , my brother asked him do u know how serious allergies reaction are , some one can die from eating contaminated foood , yet he seemed to have a care in the world , with our orders we ordered x2 onion bhajis , along with 3 naans , 2 chicken jalfreji , x2 ckn dansak, 2 garlic chicken chicken, 2 daal 1 chicken byranni 4 white rice , 1 veg curry n 1 saag aloo..
Anyway food came after a while , the naans where bit hard , the chicken jalfreji was to oily , chicken dansak was dry , maybe they just saw us like a Asian family who did not know fine dinning or good Indian food , also they forgot the onion bhajis, we asked them after we ate half of our main , all in all not a good experience, for the price we where charged !
Bill was not cheap , wish went somewhere else , even at beginning and end no smile from staff , no open door for the lady’s , sadly it felt they where not happy for us to eat there .
Very poor experience, very bad service n not good customer service, was it because we where Asian family , was it because we went there a Sunday , we have no idea !!
Felt like they...
Read moreMy mother and I stopped in for dinner without a reservation and was pleasantly greeted by Abbas and later other members of staff. We sat near the door which was lovely and cool with a breeze on this warm London evening. The restaurant was colourfully diverse with a mix of African, Asian, Italian, Polish and British clientele as well as the American writing this review. Despite the close proximity to other tables, you couldn't hear other conversations. Following the meal I let him know I was celebrating 25 years in the UK.
Ok, so the food was INCREDIBLE along with the OUTSTANDING customer service. We were not ignored, but not pestered either. The staff quietly finessed their way around the room to attend to our every need and everyone elses.
Our starters included the king prawn butterfly which was served with a small salad of cucumber, lettuce, a cherry tomato and lemon swirled wedge. Along with this, a side dish as a starter, fried garlic mushrooms. Both beautiful succulent, flavoured and portioned.
Our main was the tandoori mixed grill, sag paneer, and Peshwari naan. Oh my good God, was this fantastic! The whole time I was eating I was thinking, "Now this is what finger licking good tastes like!" The chicken, the lamb, the prawn, the grilled onions and peppers, the dish was absolutely fabulous....juicy, a variety flavour and colours which left us asking whether we needed reservations to come back tomorrow.
Drinks wise we only had 1 alcoholic drink and fizzy water. So my review has not been tainted by double vision. Location is also in walking convenience to tube and bus stops as well as disabled friendly providing you have a cane for mobility issues. As a fan of Indian/Bangladeshi food, this place gets a 2,025 out of 10! Top scores, 5 stars all around. My new favourite eaterie! Sorry no pictures. Half-way through the meal I realised I should have as the...
Read moreWe recently visited the UKVI office for my wife's ILR renewal and decided to have a meal at this nearby restaurant that serves Bangladeshi cuisine. We were all hungry and in high spirits, eager for a good dining experience. Unfortunately, our visit to this restaurant turned out to be extremely disappointing.
We ordered Gusht Rogan Josh, Gusht Korma, garlic naan, plain naan, papadam, and chutney. The server informed us that the chutney would be an extra charge, to which we agreed.
When the food arrived, the first thing we noticed was the Gusht Korma. It had a completely white, coconut-based gravy that did not resemble korma at all. It was intended for the kids, but it was too sweet and tasted nothing like any korma they had tried before. The Rogan Josh was even worse—bland, watery, and filled with large tomato pieces, lacking the authentic taste of Rogan Josh.
We were particularly disappointed because we had chosen this restaurant over a nearby Lebanese place, relying on positive reviews.
The final straw came when we received the bill. My wife noticed that we were charged for two chutneys, despite ordering only one. When we questioned this, instead of admitting and correcting the mistake (assuming it wasn't deliberate), the server justified the charge by claiming that because there were two adults, we were being charged double for the same chutney basket. I was stunned by this explanation. I have never encountered such unethical practices in the UK before. The audacity to charge twice for the same chutney was beyond belief.
Overall, the experience was terrible: tasteless food, fraudulent billing, and shameless justification of unethical practices. Money aside, the sheer brazenness of this behaviour is unacceptable.
I strongly recommend staying away from...
