Not a bar to go to if you like strong beer! The last time I was here they had 13 beers on keg & cask and 9 of them were under 4%! The others were barely over! The only beer I really like of theirs is Coffee in the morning. They did a bottled imperial version a couple of years ago but I've not seen it since.Needs a bit more ooomph as far as guest beers go, too little variety, too many big breweries represented. Not enough good quality strong ales!
The venue itself is small and lacks practical seating. There is 1 toilet on the premises........I know the venue lacks space but a single toilet for all is just wrong. There are other toilets within a short walk in the main centre.
There are 2 ways of entering the bar, one through the main centre entrance and the other through a door that leads directly into the bar. This is ok in the summer, but in the winter, if you stand in the wrong place you can feel the ice crystals form on the end of your nose. it can be so cold with that door open!
There are nearby bars that offer a better & stronger beer selection......and somewhere warm in the winter! Tap East needs to pull its finger out re guest beers and involve some smaller breweries in their...
Read moreWestfield Stratford Shopping Centre. Beer desert I thought. More arid than than the Gobi I thought. Multinational blands I thought. How wrong could I be? Totally it seems. Head for Stratford International railway station and you will find this veritable oasis of craft beers and ales, many brewed on the premises, some brewed elsewhere and all set at a price that doesn't make your wallet wince. If only all shopping centres had a bar like this. I sampled several pints over a couple of days, including an own brewed coffee porter (Delicious) an experimental table beer (full of flavour for a gentle 2.8% beer) and a rather unusual carrot saison beer...
Read moreI'd describe this as a micropub. It's situated at rear entrance of Westfield so it's a perfect spot to grab a quick drink and some respite from the stuffy heat and crowds of the mall. Cool. Literally airy and coo that is,l with a few comfy couches to sink into. We just had a couple of cappuccinos which were spot on and 2/3 pint of the locally brewed session IPA. The draught ales come as 1 pint, 2/3 pint, 1/2 pint and 1/3 pint - I've never seen that before and it's a great idea. Has some outdoor seating too. This was a quiet Tuesday lunchtime so it wasnt busy and was very tranquil but I'd guess it must get busy at evenings, weekends and...
