Forget your sterile gastropubs and your soulless craft beer shrines. This isn't one of those. No, this is the kind of joint where the very air hums with the ghosts of electric guitars and spilled beer, a glorious, cacophonous symphony that rattles your molars and makes you feel alive. If your soul yearns for a proper rock 'n' roll pub, a sanctuary of sound and suds, then listen up, because I've found the watering hole for you. The moment you step through the door, you're hit with it: a tidal wave of banging tunes that don't just play in the background, they demand your attention. This isn't elevator music for the masses; this is the soundtrack to a good time, a grimy, glorious anthem of defiance and revelry. And the keg ale selection? Oh man, it's not just good, it's a liquid rebellion, a parade of proper pints that sing on your tongue. The vibe here is less "curated experience" and more "authentic dive bar nirvana." It's got that old-school community rock pub swagger, a feeling that this place has seen some things, heard some stories, and still stands tall, unbowed and unpretentious. Every one of those nicknacks on the walls â the faded band posters, the forgotten relics of rock history â they don't look like they were plucked from some Pinterest board or mass-ordered from Etsy. No, these are artifacts, each one placed with a purpose, a quiet testament to a genuine love for the genre. Now, I'll admit, there were some mysteries left unsolved. The whispers of Detroit pizza lingered in the air, a tantalizing promise of cheesy, crusty glory that, criminally, I didn't get to sample. And the games room in the basement? Untouched, a dark, alluring cavern of unknown delights. Regrets? Maybe a few. But despite these missed opportunities, the verdict is in, etched in the annals of my beer-soaked memory: this is definitely the best pub in the area. And as the echoes of that last power chord fade, and the real world beckons, a primal urge stirs within. Maybe, just maybe, I should go back now. What are you...
Read moreThis pub is amazing! Great staff, great booze, good prices and great atmosphere â but has a HORRIBLE âownerâ. The guy who says he owns this joint is a belligerent person. He has verbally abused several people from my office on different occasions. While everything else about this place is great - I WILL NEVER SPEND ANOTHER POUND THERE. Beware. If the owner is out you'll have an excellent experience, if he is in you may be attacked. Iâd visited this pub a few times and really enjoyed the atmosphere. I was there with mates from work and my partner, had bought several rounds (was ready to buy several more). We were in the basement dancing and playing darts and I looked over and saw this very casually dressed person taking something out of my bag, I thought I was being robbed, then realised it was an employee. I said âthatâs my water bottle you donât have to take it awayâ. Before I knew it this little blond man was screaming in my face, accusing me of sneaking in with drinks, of taking money out of his pocket... I told him to smell it for himself, that it was water and he became even more belligerent. I said, âfine pour it out, but leave the bottleâ and he refused and started screaming at the top of his voice âin my face â that he was the owner, not me, and that he could do what he pleased in his own pub (which is true). Someone actually had to step between us! I was insulted and very, very shocked. I drank up and left. That ÂŁ65 is the last money I will EVER spend...
Read moređ Aldgate đşÂ ÂŁ6.20 Moretti â¤ď¸ A lovely corner pub with an eclectic interior. . The Bell is just a five minute walk from Aldgate Tube and within touching distance of the sights and sounds of Spitalfields. . I visited here late on a Saturday afternoon not long after the pub opened at 5pm. There were a few in enjoying the relaxing atmosphere and the indie soundtrack which was playing tracks from Bowie, Arctic Monkeys and tunes from Pulp Fiction. . I ordered a beer from the nice fella behind the bar and took a seat on one of the many tables placed around this good sized bar area. I had a Moretti which was just over six quid and couldnât fault it. The decor here is traditional with some eclectic touches, there are glamorous chandeliers, lots of stuffed animal heads (probs fake) and a wall of random mirrors. Downstairs there is a games room which has a fussball and pool table, downstairs is very popular and is often booked up for private functions. . This pub is where old London meets new. Looking around this pub you can imagine what it was like a hundred years ago and similarly there is a modern day artistic touch to make relevant to a younger crowd. This pub is off the beaten track which does makes it more desirable to visit. I thoroughly enjoyed this E1 boozer, @thebellpub has something for everyone and is a must visit. . đ Information correct on...
