Con artists! We called ahead, spoke to both the person who picked up and the “booking department” telling them we had a gourmet society discount and they promptly accepted our booking. When it was time to pay the bill they said they did not hear anything about the gourmet society and that as a restaurant they cannot afford to accommodate and honour the discount due to the pandemic, which sounded like a sob story. They also claimed that they have been trying to get off the gourmet society for 2 years. However this is not the customer’s problem as it constitutes false advertisement so we ended up paying more than we should. Their below average food and drinks would have been forgivable had they accepted the discount. Definitely not returning.
Response: Funny that you claimed that you might have not heard me mention the gourmet society over the phone. Admitting mistakes happen and apologising for it. Sounds like you're pretty certain it was not mentioned now that we are having this conversation publicly on google. I’m of the opinion that your issues with attempting to be removed from gourmet society are not the customers problem and you as a business owner need to ensure you’re not falsely advertising discounts. For clarity the gourmet society discounts was mentioned twice both to yourself and your “bookings department” one of which at least should have apologised and made it clear the discount will not be accepted. It is clear from your responses that you are a man of excuses and refuse to accept responsibility for anything negative said about your restaurant. Given the sob story about gourmet society refusing to respond or remove your listing from the app it sounds like you heard it just fine but due to your business struggling you simply did not want to lose a potential booking, so you conveniently missed the words gourmet...

Read moreI love tapas. I love Barcelona. So when I accidentally stumbled past this place on the way to my hotel from the car park, I couldn't resist but to come back for some dinner entertainment!
We didn't have a booking, and feared the worst when we saw how busy it was, but the gent at the door sat us down by the bar whilst he worked out where we could sit. A few moments later we were sat on a cute two-seater, in the thick of the action.
We were presented with a food and drinks menu, but having that it was our first visit, it would have been rude to pass up their famous set menu with all the trimmings. We chucked in a jamon croquettes and a pan con tomate, just for good measure. These were accompanied by a bottle of rioja (medium/light red) and pint of Estrella Galicia!
The food was all very good. The standout for me was the croquettes and the tortilla (very rare that you get tortilla this good - eggs cooked just under - perfect!).
The reason this got 5* (would have been a 6* if possible) was the attentive and friendly service. Turns out the friendly gent at the door was the owner, David. He was really great, gave us so much time to chat and make us feel welcome. He even sent over his sherry expert, Will, to talk us through some post meal Fino options. I had the most incredible oloroso with some cheese, just wow.
I hadn't seen any of the reviews before I came here, so really surprised to see the mixed bag. I had such a good night, the vibe was unreal and the meal was delightful. Wouldn't hesitate to come back,...
