In short: delicious food, terrible service, very disappointed. In the positives, the food is mostly outstanding. The savouries were the best I've had in any afternoon tea in London, and the 2 pâtisseries were incredible. The pre-dessert was delicious. The tea selection is also very good.

But this is unfortunately let down by what is mostly very poor service. The start was great, with really lovely staff serving the savouries, but after that, we waited ages between courses. No milk was offered, and we waited a long time for our teas. My pot of White Peony arrived over-brewed and a little bitter, however I didn't want to complain as it would have cause some more delays. But really the worst part was the wait - the table next to us had to leave because of how long the wait was! Our scones were served last because somehow they ran out (it doesn't take 2 hours to bake scones). This feels wrong, sorry! And the cake slices were tiny and overly warm, because they were the last things on the cake trolley for hours. It was obvious they ran out. When we chased for scones after nearly a 45min of wait, we got them 20 min later but with no apology or explanation of why it took so long.

When you charge £75 and add a 15% service charge, you expect outstanding service, or at least some apology if there are issues. This was not the case, and it does not do justice to the food served. Overall it leaves us disappointed, and we probably...

Came here for the afternoon tea to celebrate my 30th birthday with my husband and I had high expectations considering the hotel reputation and the reviews online, but have to say I left pretty disappointed especially with the taste of the food and cakes.

First up was a round of the savoury sandwiches: - I did enjoy the crab roll and the flavour was good but nothing outstanding for a high end afternoon tea, especially when the brioche bun was dry… then Salmon gravlax on toasted croissant with quail egg was my second favourite, nothing to complaint about. Then the good flavours stops here, didn’t understand the BBQ corn bread with cured Wagyu beef at all, it was a bit of dry chewy beef on dry carbohydrate and flavour profiles didn’t go together either, cheese sandwich was just so plain that it’s no different fr a home made toasted cheese on toast.

Moving on the sweets, would prefer my scones to be more risen and crumbly, and the patisseries were on the sweets and heavy side which may be prefer by some but it was all a bit too much for me, while one of the tray bakes ( marble chocolate one) was so dry and I couldn’t take a second bite.

Deeply disappointed with the afternoon tea.that I experienced on 23 December. There were elements that were sublime (the lobster thermador tartlet was sensational as was the lemon cake). We were given one item each on all the sandwiches and the savoury items. However, we had to cut each of the miniature cakes in half as we were not given one each ... which was very stingy for the £55 a head price.

The service was the main issue. Poor doesn't even cover it. It was abysmal. We were completely forgotten about and I had to ask for the scones twice and ask for a new pot of tea (the waiting staff didnt check on us at all in the space of 45 minutes). I even had to ask for the bill three times! This really marred the experience which was a special occasion for myself and my Godson.

With a total bill of £167 which included 2 glasses of house sparkling wine and 2 bottles of water plus service (which, with hindsight I shouldn't have paid but I was too embarrassed to say anything in front of my Godson).

This could have been an amazing experience but with the stingy cake portions and the terrible service. They really need to raise their game. I would not recommend this afternoon tea and there are far better establishments with a lower price tag that will deliver a much...
