I have never posted on Google before, but need to take the time to express my deepest disappointment. For the past three weeks, I have been working with Jenny to orgainze a once-in-a-decade get-together with family and friends while visiting London from LA. Through Jenny, we booked a private room at the Garrison for 15 persons. In order to secure the room, she asked that I obtain pre-orders from each of the guests (which took me a lot of time)!
When we arrived at the restaurant, the private room was not available as discussed. The manager of the restaurant--who was very helpful--informed us that Jenny had not communicated with his team at the Garrison about the booking of the private room or our pre-orders. He further explained that the communication breakdown was caused by the fact that Jenny is not an employee of the Garrison, rather she works for an independent reservation company.
Initially, he offered to seat us in the main dining room at a very uncomfortable high top and an adjacent booth. This was less than ideal given that our party wouldn't be able to dine at the same table and the high top chairs were not suitable for children or the older adults in our party. Ultimately, we elected to move to a large room in the basement, which was occupied by several other parties at the time.
This too was a less than ideal scenario. The music in the basement was very loud (much louder than upstairs), which presented significant challenges--the older people in our group could not hear any conversation, and the children became upset. As a result, over two-thirds of the party left at that point in time left.
To put it simply, the lack of communication between the independent reservation company and the Garrison ruined our evening. This is time that myself, family, and friends will never get back. If you are looking to host a private event at the Garrison, I would suggest that you look elsewhere.
On a positive note, the food and drink were very good. The manager and wait staff were attentive and helpful but ultimately unable to present a...
Read moreSo dog friendly! Our pup had been in the car for hours and seemed to have gotten out of the wrong side of the car when we arrived and wanted to let everyone know about it - She did calm down but we couldn't stop apologising and the staff were nothing but understanding and welcoming. We had mentioned on the phone that we were on our honeymoon and they actually bumped us up to a bigger room which was just SO lovely of them, but more than that, they put a bottle of prosecco and two glasses with strawberries in the room for us with a congratulations card. We were FLOORED. It was just so kind and thoughtful of them! We were only staying one night and they made us feel so damn special! That night we had drinks in the bar and our pup got very curious about what our server was bringing over on a tray and knocked the tray out of the poor woman's hand. We have never been so mortified (our pup is a year old but has always been well behaved so we had no idea what got into her that particular day). Had I been that server who got drenched by an over enthusiastic pup, I don't think I could have held it together the way this poor woman did. We apologised profusely and felt so awful about it and she just shrugged it off, said it was absolutely fine and not to worry at all. We must have been the guests from hell and the staff at The Garrison still went out of their way to make our stay perfect. We were thinking of extending our stay but organisation wise we had to move on (luckily for the poor staff at The Garrison).
Room was gorgeous, spacious, well kept and so clean! The bathroom was a huge wet room which was quite unique but also very comfortable. There was ample space for our stuff, including a clothes rail and hangers. The decor is just stunning as well. Every little detail of the room was just on point and matched theme perfectly....
