It is always a pleasure to walk in Southwark, many shops and many restaurant or cafes. The perfect Bistrot finds its location at the corner in Southwark, cozy, comfortable and not crowded. I chose to have my little snack of charcuterie here, in this Casual wine bar after walking in a unusual rainy day, so it was quite pleasant to find a warm place where to seat and chill for a while. Artisan cheeses and fine charcuterie from Spain, Italy, France with fresh olives, honey and grapes, served on a wodden platter, chilean wine and different types of bread, to be enjoyed in company or even alone. I highly recommend this place, as I am usually a solo walker, I like to discover new places, attracted by the atmosphere I see inside the bar.

We were ignored on arrival, but eventually had a warm welcome. Wine selection was great, and atmosphere was good. We waited 25 minutes for a cheese and meat board which was rather limited in its selection of 3 almost identical sausages, cut very crudely and dry round some edges. Not much more to be said for the cheeses. A chalk like 'manchego', way too much goats cheese and a tiny corner of unripe Brie. My girlfriend also got a hair in hers which got stuck in her teeth!!! This was apologies for but when we questioned the food we were met with nothing but shrugging shoulders dirty looks and a bad attitude from 2 of the servers. Our advice go down the road a find some of the other lovely spots we sampled on the same night!!

I like this deli! It’s my fav each time I go to Bermondsey Street. They sell nice food, salads, snacks, cheese, meat, chicken, sandwiches, deli and other stuff! The selection of wines is realy good and tasty. The deli is in a nice corner, you can sit outside and have nice food. I specially like their potato salad, and have tried couple of others. They also sell bakery and desert so they are a nice spot on the way. The atmosphere is nice, service is good, food is delicious and you enjoy the street view if you sit outside. Price is a bit high but reasonable and you receive good quality. Highly recommended!

I usually go here at least a couple of times a month. I usually like it here but this time service was terrible. We were sitting at the bar, however we were told that we were not allowed to order from the bar but had to get up and walk to the till to order for each order (although that never happened before), despite we were there and these girls were standing in front of us! On top of that, we were charge £18 for a platter of cheese that contained 8 slices of cheese, that's £ 2.25 for a slice of cheese. We asked the waitress what cheese we were eating and she said she didn't know the name, but remember that was a type of brie. So we were served 4 slices of two different cheeses for which the waitress didn't even know the name and were charged £18 for it. What a shame, that is ridiculous. On top of that there was a group of people at the bar that was so loud and noisy that made it impossible for my friend and I to have a conversation, I couldn't hear anything she said to me. I asked the waitress if anyone could do anything about it but i was ignored. Also, at some point the lady at the bar while having a conversation on the phone took the serving thongs and used it to scrap a stain of dried food from the counter and then she used the same thongs without cleaning them to serve food! That was disgusting. Anyway, this place was once good, but the stuff has changed and probably the customers too. I will never go back, we were not welcomed, we were ripped off and that thong thing was just disgusting. Not inviting for a place that charges £18 for 8...

I ordered two glasses of wine at c. £9 each. When I sat down and the wine was brought to me it was warm. I took it back asking for it to be cold. They said they’d put the bottle in the freezer.

We didn’t want to wait for 20 minutes while the wine chilled as that was all we were having so I asked for a refund as we would go somewhere else. This was refused and we were passed the warm wine in paper takeaway coffee cups. I was also told that it has been in the freezer for 5 minutes (when it has only been in there for about 30 seconds). I said I didn’t not want warm wine and explained that you would expect the white wine to be cold when it arrives.

One staff member then brashly asked if I knew whether it was warm when I ordered it. I explained I found out it was warm when I tasted it. She said I knew it was warm so what’s my problem. I explained that it was well known that white wine should be cold.

Clearly recognising her fellow staff member was wrong, another staff member intervened saying there’s nothing they can do and all they could do was put the bottle in the freezer. She pointed to an open top fridge which was clearly not sufficient for chilling wine and said this was why it was not cold.

At this moment I recognised my situation was hopeless as I was dealing with rude and uninformed staff and left. I would usually not complain about this sort of stuff but when paying close to £10 per glass (or paper cup) for wine I think it is reasonable to expect it at the right temperature. Would recommend this...

Popped in for some lunch to take away. Was a really cold day so was tempted by the prospect of a warming Chicken Stroganoff on the specials board. Was a bit disappointed to see them pop it in the microwave, which may be unfair, but I had visualised a large pot on a hotplate somewhere! After about 5 mins, they took it out and put a rather ill-fitting, thin plastic lid on the very full container, so the sauce was spilling out the sides and difficult to get into the paper bags left on the counter for customers to pack themselves. To be fair, they did help when I asked, but the poor seal on the container also meant that the meal was tepid at best by the time I had made the 5 minute walk back to the Office. That said, the dish was tasty enough and I'm sure I would have enjoyed it more had I eaten in but unfortunately they don't have enough seating. On the other hand, I did resent paying £11.50 for what was basically a microwave meal I could have picked up at Sainsbury's for £5 and eaten piping hot out of the work Microwave, although I would still have had to pack my own bag! Judging by some of the photos though, I feel like I perhaps wasn't seeing the place at its best and that it would be better experienced as an evening bistro than somewhere for a grab and go lunch,...
