Superb Italian food, freshly cooked. Very simple menu with few choices, and clearly benefits from it. For a starter we took the garlic bread and they had the best focaccia I've had, with the garlic and olive oil flavour bursting through. For a main I had the lasagna, with most Italian places a 'safe' but stodgy choice, but the owner recommended and here it was light and easy, packed with flavour. The tomato sauce on it was beautiful, tasted so fresh. We shared a Pepperoni pizza with added Nduja between the 5 of us and it was so moreish, with the mozzarella on point. For dessert I had the Cannoli and wow, the ricotta was incredible and the chocolate shavings were home made by the restaurant - you could tell it wasn't commercial chocolate as the excess literally melted at your touch. They recommend some coffee to end followed by a Limoncello (they gave it free for us) that was beautifully smooth. Followed it with a walk up the hill to the observatory to cap a great trip to Greenwich. This review feels a tad OTT for me but looking back at it there's nothing I'd change. I hope your experience is as good as mine.

We popped in this little spot for dinner on a Saturday night, the server was very lovely and apologetic that they were super busy but happily squeezed us into a table seat. She warned us that they might be a little slow but in the end the speed of service was fine. The menu is quite limited but has a good selection overall, the food however was pretty bland. I ordered the tomato gnocchi and it was fine but really nothing special or memorable. The gnocchi was cooked well but the sauce was very bland and had little to no flavour at all. My friend had a pizza and said it was fine too, the dough base was okay but again just nothing special. We also ordered tiramisu for desert but again it wasn't terrible but it certainly wasn't good either. The finger biscuits at the bottom were crispy with no coffee at all, and the layers of cream were heavy and again just kind of flavourless. Whilst my experience in this restaurant wasn't bad necessary I just felt everything was lacking in flavour and bland, I wouldn't personally visit again.

Conveniently located next to the entrance of Greenwich Market, Madre Pinzeria Italiana offers a cosy indoor setting. However, the outdoor garden seating—comprising three large tables—felt a bit cramped. The menu features a standard selection of pasta, pizza, wines, beers, cocktails, and coffee. Unfortunately, they were out of Campari, which meant most of their cocktail list was unavailable. I settled for an Aperol Spritz which was felt to be overpriced. We tried two pizzas: • The Gourmet (no ham) – This was overly sweet, likely due to the onion chutney and sun-dried tomatoes. • The Vegana – Topped with grilled aubergine, peppers, and cherry tomatoes, but lacked seasoning. The passata needed more herbs, and the vegetables could’ve been grilled more thoroughly. While the dough base was excellent, both pizzas were let down by the toppings—one too sweet, the other bland and under-seasoned. Service was fine. They make a point of not charging a service fee, which is clearly advertised on a board outside.

Quality authentic Calabrian food, owners from the Italian 'heel' in far south West. Why not 5 star? Well 4.5 but slightly let down by rather unadventurous and limited beer choices. Do they not have authentic beers in Calabria too just as we have craft beers? What do the 'cool' young there drink mostly?( I'll have to visit!) And the draught choice (one!) only served in pints?? My comment that "I prefer two halves as it's nice to drink beer very cold in summer and it warms up quickly as a pint" fell on our Lithuanian ladies deaf ears with a shrug! ( maybe just check to see if possible??) She was a 'little' 'unfriendly' at first, maybe a tough day or maybe the Scandinavian style, but it was ok. ( Hint- maybe a smile or two?) Other slight negative was rear terrace- nice to be outside on a very warm early evening, but could do with a few thoughts to improve the experience. Noise from what seemed like construction of metal framed food stalls for following morning street food section of market set slightly above the restaurants area ( seems they may share it with market in daytime?). Needed more greenery and different seating to avoid the 'pub garden' look and feel. Maybe a little ambient soft music? It certainly doesn't conjure up the feeling of a Mediterranean restaurant terrace evening experience. Noise may not be a regular occurrence and wasn't a real problem, nothing was a problem as we were very much enjoying the meet up with old friends and the delicious food. Bill around £100 for 3 with drinks, olives, and a delicious garlic bread appetizer ( excluding desserts or coffee.). A nice choice in Greenwich, and as a local resident and business owner I'd go again and recommend to clients despite the fee little 'points for improvement' which I hope assist owners should they read this. Greenwich needs authentic cuisine such as this as with all tourist destinations it suffers a plethora of restaurant budget chains. Well done to the owners here for helping us improve...

My girlfriend and I went to Madre Pinzeria last week. As I work in the trade, I never write reviews on restaurants, but this place beats it all. Firstly the waitress could not take the order properly, since we ordered 2 pinzas, and we only received one, and she told us that the second one would have been there in 5 minutes, which never happened and she claimed later that we paid one. Either she did not understand a simple order, or she has been badly trained. since we were the only customers. The below answer from the owner to my girlfriend's review is insulting claiming that we were DRUNK when we even did not take drinks! Both my girlfriend and I supply the trade, we respect the hard work of the restaurant trade, but we do not respect having a bad service and above all insulting comments coming from the owner who shows how unprofessional he is. We will never come back to his place since as described the service is poor, and the food is of average quality. The below is the insulting reply to my girlfriend's review from the owner:

I'm sorry to read this review, however I want to clarify that if you pay for a takeaway Pinza, you will receive only one Pinza. If your partner has not paid anything, he cannot receive anything. Regarding the flavors you perceived at that moment, we will offer you two Pinzas at a time when both of you will...

I have lived in three different cities, and never have I come across Italian food and customer service as exceptional as what we received at Madre Pizzeria Italiana. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem in Greenwich that we cannot wait to visit again. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was perfect. Their knowledge of the menu and their genuine passion for Italian cuisine were evident in every interaction. The food was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish was crafted with the utmost care and attention to detail, capturing the authentic flavors of Italy. The pasta was cooked to perfection, the pizza had the perfect balance of crispy crust and flavorful toppings. It’s clear that Madre Pizzeria Italiana uses only the freshest ingredients, which makes all the difference. In a city filled with dining options, Madre Pizzeria Italiana stands out not just for its incredible food but also for its outstanding customer service. This is a place where you feel like family from the moment you step in. If you’re in Greenwich and looking for a memorable dining experience, this is the place to go. We will definitely...
