Cannot score lower than this on the service. Me an my partner decided to visit the Peninsula coffee shop as a treat for ourselves after a long week of hard work. We decided to visit the coffe as we heard that service was good and so the danish. We felt so embarassed of how we have been treated that there are no words to describe how we felt. We entered the coffee shop and we asked for 2 coffees and 2 danish, we asked if we could sit outside and we were told that outside is only for take away. Till here all good. Then i went to have a look at the cakes display and when i come back in front of the barista, she just put the espresso on the table without even saying if was ours, then my oat latte came up and without even looking in my face she said sugar behind you. When i got the danish from the other young memeber of staff i asked for cutlery and tissues, as we were to consume the danish right outside, i only recieved tissues no cutlery. While we were consuming our orders a gentlemen and a lady with 2 dogs approached and sat next to us, the waiter came outside to take the order and personally delivered the order to the table, including their sweet and guess what? Cutleries. As we were overhearing the conversation we understood that the knew the guest somehow and they recieved a good service which was what we were expecting too. The danish were really nice but the service...
Read moreI'd like to give this establishment a higher rating, but there were several aspects that left me disappointed. While waiting for my takeaway hot chocolate, I couldn't help but notice flies on the coffee cups atop the coffee machines, which is far from the standard one would expect from such a place. Additionally, the entrance curtains were rather inconvenient, constantly brushing against me and causing obstructions.
The hot chocolate itself was underwhelming. I observed the barista opening a carton of hot chocolate milk, the kind you can easily purchase at any supermarket, and warming it up. It pales in comparison to the hot chocolate you can enjoy at Costa or Starbucks, which is made with fresh milk.
Though the customer service was passable, considering that the place had recently opened and might still be working out its kinks, this experience falls far short of what one would anticipate from a 5-star hotel coffee shop. To put it plainly, I was severely...
Read moreWe stopped by this café just before the afternoon for a quick coffee with my son during my stay in London. The interior is beautifully designed: elegant, refined, and modern. It’s both a café and a boutique, offering a thoughtful selection of treats to take home: artisanal chocolates, cookies, pastries, fine tea blends, specialty coffee beans, and Peninsula Champagne.
The pastry display was exceptional and I even regret not taking a photo. I chose their signature lion dessert, inspired by the two majestic lion statues that stand guard at the entrance of the hotel, now an iconic emblem of the brand. While the presentation was delightful, the flavors, a combination of vanilla, fruit jam, and a delicate white chocolate glaze, didn’t quite live up to the visual promise.
The macchiato was decent, and although seating was limited, we were fortunate to find a cozy spot by the window. A lovely...
