🚇 Sloane Square 🍺 £6.70 Estrella ❤️ A handsome Chelsea Gastro. . The Phoenix is situated in the heart of Chelsea just off the Kings Road. Getting here is easy, Sloane Square tube is a pleasant ten minute walk. . There is a claim that this is the oldest pub in Chelsea, records show that this pub was built in the late eighteenth century. However, The Crosse Keys near Chelsea Embankment currently owns this title. . This pub has a beautiful tiled exterior and ornate balustrades running around the first floor which make this pub very easy on the eye. . The decor here is traditional with a contemporary edge. The walls are painted pastel colours with an eclectic mix of prints dotted around. The seating is a mix of traditional tables and chairs, banquettes and a cosy booth to relax in. The severy is located on the left hand side with the main dining area at the rear of the bar. . The beer selection was good, I opted for a pint of Estrella. My pint was decent and price point was to be expected. The food menu is elevated pub classics, Fish & Chips costs £18.50. This pub is popular on Sundays for its roast dinners, Roast Chicken with all the trimmings comes in at £19. . I visited with my Daughter around 3pm on a Sunday lunchtime, the pub was busy with the majority of punters here for a roast. There was a nice buzz around the pub and the vibe was upbeat. The service was good, we were served by a friendly member of staff who sorted our drinks in no time at all. After we got our drinks, we looked for somewhere to sit and noticed a few empty tables with knives and forks on. I’m not a fan of empty tables with cutlery on as I feel that it acts a deterrent for drinkers not to sit there. We ended up sitting at a low level table which did feel a bit like a waiting area. . @thephoenixsw3 is a cheerful pub which is popular with locals and those who are after a bite to eat. In my humble opinion I feel a few more provisions could be made for those here for the beer. Overall, It’s a well run pub with a nice environment, definitely worth a look if you’re in and around the Kings Road. . ℹ️ Info correct on...
Read moreWe were there a week ago when we were in Chelsea. My partner wanted a roast, I was a wee tired to get out of Chelsea and decided to give this place a try. Nice decor with leather fauteuils when you step in, al fresco dining around the restaurant. The ambiance is pleasant, bright, airy feeling. There was no one to greet us except a lady behind the bar who was busy clearing. She saw us, but ignored us and continued to remove the empty glasses behind the bar counter. I approached her, greeted her, she ignored me. There was a lot of clanking and slamming obviously unhappy about something. A waitress came towards us, found us a table and seated us. Though there were other empty tables without the "Reserved" signs, we were seated beside the WC. I would not recommend this table as the traffic could get quite busy at peak hours. My partner ordered his beer and his roast. I wasn't particularly hungry and wanted a snack. The problem was most of the dishes or snacks contained lactose. The waitress recommended the hummus which was good, and grilled asparagus, which was grilled to my liking. The roast according to my partner was OK...the braised beef cheek was good but there was only a spoonful, the steak cut was something we have not seen in France, he thought it was a tongue in the beginning and was apprehensive about it. But it tasted ok according to him. It came with roast potatoes abd some vegetables. Overall the waitress who waited on our table was pleasant and kind despite being busy. The decor was nice, the food was OK, I wished they had a wider choice for lactose free snacks or starters. I would rate this place 3.5 but Google doesn't have the half...

We went to Phoenix yesterday afternoon as a group of four. We called ahead to check for availability and were informed that there was space. Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived, we felt unwelcome due to the repeated rude behavior of the young, tall, blonde waiter serving us. I have to describe his physical appearance as we couldn't catch his name. He kept ignoring us when we tried to order drinks, snubbed us while we were placing our order, and arrogantly added "pleeease" at the end of our sentences, even though we hadn't finished speaking. Despite trying to act like a lecturer on courtesy, he didn't even ask if we had finished our food before clearing our plates from the table.
Even though we were treated rudely, we were willing to give feedback for future reference at the end of the service. When he came to collect the payment, we asked to speak to the manager. He claimed to be the manager, but it was clear that he was not. We still tried to communicate with him politely, but all we received was a more hostile attitude sprinkled with ignorance and eye rolls. We all left with the same feeling and assumption that this could only be explained by racial or sexist discrimination, as we clearly observed his behavior towards other customers, which was nothing like ours.
Aside from that, the Sunday roast was one of the best I've ever had; the meat was of good quality. It's such a shame that the lack of hospitality and rude, insulting manners overshadowed all the goodness and joy of the experience. I hope the real manager reads this and starts working on improving the communication skills of...
