A rare sublime, supreme public house with finesse, style & class. A large London city tavern šŸŗ close bordering both river & city. It holds timeless elegance through extensive shop windows with art deco droplet lights. Richly decorative ceiling paper set the chandeliers & glorious, original, cut glass pendant lamps. A superb range of draught beers, with excellent choice & variety. A good selection of comfortable seating & outdoor street drinking at e end of the picturesque Lovat Lane. The bar stretches round the core with a beautifully carved wood, heritage back bar with decorative columns & a wonderful service archway at one end. Another carved wood archway stands inside the corner main entry. There's discreetly large sceeens at height. The atmosphere is serene, calm, relaxation, this is a hidden gem šŸ’Ž go find it.

Best pub experience we had in London (and we went to many). After several pubs telling us they were full up despite multiple unreserved tables, walrus and carpenter found space for us after a short wait and worked with us to get a table after a night of roaming the city hungry. The other pubs loss was their gain. We spent over £100 on a full night out of fish and chips, several rounds of beers, steak and ale pie and sticky toffee pudding. The best pub food we had on the trip, great service and friendly staff. Be advised that you have to order on the app or walk up and pay/put in food, which seems to be par for the course for UK pubs. My only complaint is whiskey pours are very measured and not generous, but stick to beer and ale and you'll have a great time.

This is our post choir pub. Every Monday for the last decade. ̶L̶o̶v̶e̶ ̶i̶t̶.̶ *EDIT* I help run a choir just up the lane and every Monday evening about 30-40 (sometimes many more as our choir is now 120 people!) go to the Walrus for a post rehearsal drink or four and some social time. We've been doing this for over 10 years. But in the recent weeks there has been a complete change in the ambience with obnoxiously loud music blaring all evening. You cannot hear yourself think, let alone have a conversation with someone standing next to you. The staff are incredibly rude now, and when asked to turn it down, they actually turned it up. As a result we are now changing our post rehearsal pub, which is an incredible shame and the end of an era.

This is one of the worst pubs and service experiences I’ve ever received in London and that’s saying a lot considering I live here! So let’s start off by telling you how the ā€œbookingā€ experience was....called today (16/11/2019@13:42) I was told that I was unable to book a reservation on the day and it was to close to the reservation time (fair enough). I then asked if it was full and if they had space for 5 people, which to that I got yes just come in we have space. On arrival I was greeted and told to take a seat anywhere....really I thought to myself....the only space was at the bar or (cocktail) tables...how would they like us to have 5 peoples plates on cocktail table?????? Then I noticed a couple leaving a 4/5 top table...bearing in mind that they were the only two at the table...I then asked, if they would mind us taking the table which they agreed and we exchange pleasantries and they prepared to leave. On their departure I sat down at the table to be rudely told by the guests at the next table they have booked that table??? WHAT? I told them it’s not possible to book a table today, they then directed me to the ā€œmanger/person on dutyā€ bearing in mind this is the same person who told me I’m unable to book a table!!! When he arrived at my table he said that they have booked the table, I then reminded him that he advised tables were un-bookable, the response on this was an absolute classic and I quote ā€œthey are already in the restaurantā€ at this point my patience was at all all time low! I responded with we are in the restaurant too and I even tried to call to book this table! He said that they had booked it and that was that! To that I told him he could keep the drinks and the lunch along with the reservation and with that me and my family/friends walked out!

To say I was F&@ed off is an understatement!!!!

WORD OF WARNING STAY AWAY FROM THIS HORRIBLE PUB! It’s not worth the time or the effort !

Give your hard earned cash to an establishment that actually believes in good...

Dont go here! Everything is overpriced. Its just boring bland British food nothing spectacular. The drinks are just as bad, I've seen better stuff at tesco. Your better of going there, it's just round the corner.

And if you're thinking about working here then DON'T. You'll be Overworked, underpaid, undervalued, unappreciated and stressed out. I was only there a month but was let go without any notice. Because I wasn't fast enough but no matter how fast you work it's never good enough. They expect to much from you all for just minimum wage. They dont care about your health & safety because they expect you to work fast even when its overcrowded on Thursdays and the bar floor is wet which is dangerous. Colleagues will make petty complaints about you to the management behind your back. But won't say anything to your face. Theyre so fake just like some of the reviews on here that the management beg the staff to write. I never felt welcomed here. No one liked me for no reason at all, very cliquey. If you don't fit in then they'll find any reason to fire you. I honestly believe that me being the only black male bartender also played a part in this. Its strange that they mostly hire young white females...hmm makes you wonder...doesn't it? Even all the management are white. And someone please get Nick fired he's one of the most disrespectful managers ive ever worked with. He either has personal issues going on or he's just power tripping because he always treats the staff poorly and is very rude and very grumpy. Horrible man. So yeah, dont work here you'll just be wasting your time. Im just wondering how im gonna pay my rent now. Overall,...

I struggle to put into words how disappointed I was in this place. When we ordered early in the evening, the fish and chips were unavailable, the Shepard's pie was unavailable, and only 1 of the beef and ale pies were available. My mom settled on the remaining pie which was what I wanted (she wanted the fish) and I settled on the chorizo pie (I wanted the Shepard's pie or beef pie) we decided to split our pies. In addition to the food issue, they were not able to make the drink I ordered properly despite it being on the menu. My grandparents received their food 20 minutes before my mother and I despite ordering at the same time. After a long wait, the food arrived. The chorizo pie was very mediocre. I've tried both Spanish and Mexican chorizo, and this was just bland. The chicken inside was also insanely dry. The crust however was very nice. The beef pie was absolutely phenomenal and it's a true shame we only had half of one each. The gravy and mash was also extremely good. Unfortunately however, one amazing item was not enough to make up for the sheer absurdity of the situation. Things happen and it's fine for restaurants to run out of one item. However, 3 items and the the things to make my drink was just absurd. This restaurant clearly has the potential to live up to its stellar reputation, but we did not have that experience. I truly hope others have a better experience than us, cause we were truly...
