Although in a great location and looking suitably grand and historic on the outside, inside it's not a very inspiring layout, with masses of empty space - presumably to accommodate the post-work crowd in the area. Despite being a relatively large room, the bar literally takes up half the space & makes it all feel strangely narrow and underused (see photo for example). If that wasn't bad enough, the bathroom operates as kind of a public toilet with people popping in and out of the side door which is right next to it (and quite a few of the tables) every few minutes... really great during the winter, with massive blasts of cold air to enjoy with your meal. Just an average pub I'm afraid.

A lovely pub near Angel tube station. We went in for a drink on our way back to the hotel on a Thursday evening, so it was very crowded and busy, but this didn't prevent us from enjoying a pint of Huntington's (seem to be their partner brewery) and a glass of cider. Bonus point : you can enjoy your drinks outside, they provide chairs and tables. Small update: food is excellent !! We tried fish and chips, sausages and mash and grilled chicken, dishes were tasteful and freshly made. Definitely one of our favorite place in Islington. Thank you

My visit to The York in London was an exceptional experience. The ambiance is truly incredible, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes every moment spent there memorable. While the beer prices are a bit on the higher side, the quality and the unique vibe of the place more than justify the cost. It's a worthwhile indulgence for anyone looking to enjoy some of the best aspects of London's pub culture. Highly recommended for those willing to splurge a little for a superior experience.

Visited today and was very disappointed with the service. Very rude lady who served me..dark haired foreign lady, don’t know her name. No hello, no smile, rolled her eyes and tutted when another customer enquired about their food order..didn’t speak to me at all! Just plonked my drinks on the bar and walked off. I presumed my payment had been accepted on the contactless payment machine, but apparently it didn’t go through. She then came outside to find me to ask for payment again..which is fine, I’m more than happy to pay for what I’d ordered. But maybe if you’d spoken to me and not been quite so ignorant at the time, then you’d have realised that the transaction hadn’t gone through. I did mention to her that she came across as quite rude. Maybe management need to train her on...

After a long day out in Islington with my family, we stumbled upon The York Public House. Greeted at the door with a smile from a young lad called Sam, who ended up serving us the majority of the night. Sam and another tall blonde lad (I think his names Frazer) made sure we were okay and really looked after us. Massive shoutout to those two. The food and service was excellent and the family orientated atmosphere really allowed for myself and the kids to enjoy our experience. Both Sam and Frazer were incredible with our two young children making them laugh and ensuring they were okay throughout the course of the evening. Overall a lovely experience and a perfect hosting from Sam and Frazer, they both were exceptional and deserve the upmost plaudits for their...
