Extremely disappointed by the manager of this restaurant (photos included!)
I went with my partner for dinner. We ordered black cod and found 6 fish bones in it. I've been to many restaurants that serve black cod before and all of them were properly deboned (especially if you're paying £30+ for the cod!!!). My partner actually swallowed 1 of the bones. I reported to the manager (not hoping for a refund or a new dish, just wanted him to know the situation) and he reacted in a very negative way. He defended his chefs and said that it was impossible to debone everything. I appreciate that he's trying to protect his chefs but finding 6 BONES that are as long as 2/3 of my finger is definitely not an excuse. Imagine if someone choked on this?! As I mentioned earlier, all black cod dishes should be deboned properly as it's basic restaurant rule. Plus, finding bones that long should not be a hard task if deboned properly. In my opinion, the manager should have just apologised and not make any excuses and make me feel like I'm in the wrong for reporting an issue.
Regardless, all the other staffs were really nice to us and the food was good. It's such a shame because I don't think I would go back there after my encounter with...
Read moreA delightful dinner experience in this japense-mexican fusion kitchen!
Food was in all ways excellent! Sashimi fresh and delicious. The octopus was tender, as it should in any high-end establishment. Vegetarian options both fresh and rich in flavour. The spinach salad with parmesan and truffle is a flavour bomb! The aubergine was as soft and juicy comfort food, while maintaining the excitement of novelty. Even the side dish rice, toped with small crunch, was a wonderful experience. Lamb skewers were tender, done according to preference, and tasteful.
Staff is polite, helpful, swift and quite.
Atmosphere is somber, with decorative detail. Think a painting of Gustav Klimt crossed with a minimalistic boudoir in natural material and colour. Music on soft volume, allowing for normal voice conversation. Well places lighting sources, wamr colour on most surfaces, cylinder white spotlight on the table for perfect illumination of the dishes.

Read moreUNI, a restaurant offering fine Japanese and Peruvian fusion dishes, is tucked away in a quiet street just minutes away from the central and ever so busy Victoria Station in London. It's an oasis of calm surrounded by a few shops and other eateries. The decor is airy and modern; nothing echoes Japanese or Peruvian. Nevertheless, it is very welcoming.
The restaurant is split over two floors. The ground floor focal point is a large marble bar with white leather and chrome highchairs where you can view all the food and cocktail preparations. The ceiling to floor glass walls and staircase allow the light to flood into the entire restaurant. Downstairs the decor is light wood and soft furnishings still modern. The atmosphere appeals to young professionals and well-educated customers looking for high-quality, sustainable and local (where possible) food. Excellent fresh food, friendly service. A bit expensive...
