Very cozy restaurant with automatic bbq cooker. The place isn’t really big, the seats are quite big. They have skewers and ready to eat food, such as Korean ramen, Korean rice cake, kimchi, pig’s ear and fried rice. They have a lot of nice Korean fizzy drinks as well! I love the grape one the most!!!! The watermelon one is a bit strong.
The staff is really friendly, she keeps an eye on all customers’ table, so if you are worry about not knowing when it’s ready to eat. That’s won’t be a problem, when the food it ready, she’ll come and put the cooked food on the top tier, so it won’t get cold while you’re still eating other food.
Reservation is recommended, you are able to book it online. Even with only two people, a reservation is still recommended, as they really don’t have a lot of space. There’re about 7 tables on the ground floor and two big private rooms in the basement. So if you need a private space for celebration, you can easily have ten guest inside the private room.
The environment is quite clean, they play Korean music video on the tv all the time, so do bring your Kpop...
Read moreA lot of people are getting this placed confused with Korean BBQ as they've advised this incorrectly on their website. The BBQ itself is actually Chinese BBQ, but they have other dishes on the menu which is Korean such as Kimchi, Pajeon and Bibimbap. However I would it is not authentic Korean. I know the person that did this restaurant up when it first opened and it is a Chinese BBQ restaurant, with some Korean dishes but definitely NOT KOREAN BBQ! So don't get them confused.
Food on the other hand is ok if you like marinated meats and offal. They serve skewers of chicken, beef, lamb, hearts, gizzards, intestines etc. We also ordered some Korean dishes such as the seafood pancake and Korean fried chicken, which if you ask me is probably the worst Korean food I've eaten. Not that it's awful tasting or anything but just does not taste authentic. If you were to compare this to K-Town in New Malden, K-Town being a 10/10 I would give this at most 2/10. However an interesting experience if you've never had Chinese BBQ, but I personally won't be coming back as there are much better...
Read moreFood is amazing - Korean fried chicken juicy inside and crispy on the outside coated with chilli and sweet sauce (for those who can’t stand too hot like one of my friend also enjoyed it very much), seafood pancake and kimchi cake are both nicely made with crispy outside but soft and flavourful, for also a cheese lover, they are good match with rice wine (makgeolli), the kind of enhanced version of rice cake (Tteokbokki)with melted cheese on top may be a good option; the special auto-grilling machine is wonderful that we can enjoy chatting and eating, let the machine works to do the DIY grilling, and the meat tastes good and juicy.
Last evening was the third time I have dinner at Yanji but was surprised to find both the food quality and service has been improving and the recent experienced was excellent. 👍 Highly recommend to those who fancy Korean food and fresh made skewers (in a comfortable seated environment as it used to be more popular as...
