Ic cannot understand why he has not reviewed this pub before. We have been many times over the years. Ic and I love Joe Holt's bitter. Lovely pub by Shambles Square where 4 pubs are in spitting distance of each other. As a result it is not the cheapest pub in the Holt's Empire but they have put a lot of money into their pub chain. Good choice for pub food and a Sunday roast for £14. Their pie is £14.45 so prices reflect location. Flat Eric's welcome. Ic was recognised.

Nice traditional but modern Joseph Holts pub round the back of Harvey Nic's next to The Wellington and Sinclair's Oyster Bar. Seating outside at the front for sunny days. I had the salted caramel sunde and I was disappointed 😞 basically it was a scoop of salted caramel and a scoop of vanilla ice cream with a blob of cream ontop with the smallest chocolate flake I've ever seen and a bit of chocolate sauce but it was presented very nicely.

The place is lovely. I used to go there a lot a few years ago, then went away so stopped. I went back today for a pizza because theirs are crunchy. The chef was adorable and we improvised that pizza I wanted for a takeaway (picture), totally yummy. The whole staff there is extremely nice and have always been. The decor is lovely but with all the tables occupied not exactly possible to take pictures. Always spotlessly clean, too.

I am Chinese, on 26th November 2017, from 12:20 to 13:05 I had a salmon salad for lunch, the salmon was at the top while all the vegetables were at the bottom. Because the staff of my company has some discounts with this restaurant, so I picked this place for my lunch break.

When I finished the salmon, I proceeded to eat the vegetables and I had some weird taste in my mouth and I noticed the vegetables was unclean because there was still some speck of mud on it. After I washed my mouth in the toilet for 3 minutes I went to talk to the staff, the person received me was a woman wearing orange cold shoulder top, short hair with long side fringe, wearing a pair of black frame glasses and her long fingernails were painted in dark colour (clearly I didn't feel any form of professionalism from this member of staff). She left me waiting at the bar for a while, then she came to me with a very unwelcoming face.

I wanted a reasonable explanation for the situation, however, she insinuated there was no mud in the salad and she behaved like I was lying. I showed her the mud on the vegetables, then she used the “you have finished the salmon” as an excuse because she did not want to acknowledge the situation. This is such an unforgivable mistake because clearly, the person who washed the vegetables did not do his job well, and what was worse was that instead of solving the problem, this woman decided to turn the table on me as if she was accusing me of being a liar.

After she talked to whomever was in charge on the phone, she decided to give me a full refund, but the story did not stop there. As she was handing over the money, she loudly said to the crowd that staff of my company are no longer welcome in this restaurant. So, in summary, this restaurant wants you to come and eat their UNWASHED food. They want you to pay handsomely for it, if you are unsatisfied, you should just shut up and be happy because, in the end, this is the food they want you to eat and nothing else, especially if you are just an employee on your lunch break, or a minority they do...

A Tranquil Culinary Retreat: Crown & Anchor Experience

Choosing Crown & Anchor for lunch was a delightful decision for multiple reasons. Firstly, the serene location provided a welcome escape from the crowds, offering a peaceful dining atmosphere just a few feet away.

Opting to sit outside was a pleasant touch, allowing me to enjoy the moment amidst a calm setting. The diverse menu caught my attention, offering enticing options that aligned with my dietary preferences, promising not just sustenance but an enjoyable culinary experience.

Ordering at the counter streamlined the process, and the attentive staff made the entire experience seamless. The standout dish was the steak 🥩 kabob with vegetables – expertly prepared and a burst of flavors that left a lasting impression. Accompanied by fries that struck the perfect balance of softness and crispiness, they were notably devoid of excess grease, making the meal thoroughly satisfying. 😋👍🏻🫶

Crown & Anchor's combination of tranquil ambiance, friendly service, and delicious cuisine makes it a top choice for those seeking a moment of culinary bliss away from the...

Been visiting this bar for over 20 years and always had great service ,Shelly and the lady with the long blonde curly hair are always exceptional, they always have a laugh and a joke with you, called in today 31/7/25 at about 2pm and was served by a lady with combed back black hair and a pony tail, I think she's related to the land lord ,asked for a large white wine with ice and a pint of gold , the gold was poured excellent but she just filled the wine glass a third with ice and the a third with wine ,not using the wine measuring tumberlas behind the bar , So we were short changed with the wine , I don't know if she was having a bad day or just couldn't be bothered to give us the correct measure we asked for , I can't see why people are like this nowadays but you should always get what you pay for, will not be...
