Have been visiting this quaint pub since 2010 on a more or les regular basis. Always a warm and friendly welcome, no matter who is doing the honours behind the bar. Sometimes packed in the evenings, but no harm. They keep fine ales and even a proper Guinness on tap. Increasingly popular, the Grey Horse won't run the risk of closure, oh no. Guardians like the old soldier who reigns from his bar stool, nursing ale from his own mug during daytime, are going to ensure continuous business. The atmosphere can be decidedly inspiring. The pints are fantastic, never a dud or a sub 10/10 among them. An excellent choice of wine, too, and all served by the best crack team of barstaff since pubs were invented. A special shout out to Ben, George and the landlord Chris, who seems to care deeply about his regulars and always makes time for a chat with anyone passing through.

I don't come here often so I have to 'double take' on the cost of 'my round' every time. "I did say four pints and not three didn't I? Brings a chuckle from the friendly barmen. 3.8%- ish Hydes bitter on a par with my preference for 'Robinsons Unicorn' (The Castle Hotel) and beats any lower alcohol Holts for me.
