Billy’s Bootleggers: The Hidden Gem of Nottingham
If you're looking for a place where you can truly unwind and embrace your most powerful yet wonderfully weird self, Billy’s Bootleggers is where you need to be. It's not just a venue; it’s an experience that feels like stepping into a world where grace is multiplied tenfold and the laws of reality take a backseat.
The moment you walk through the door, you're enveloped by a vibe that’s hard to describe—part sanctuary, part supernatural haven. Here, time slows down, and the usual stresses of life fade away. It's like the energy of the place brings you back to life, maybe even in ways you didn’t expect. One minute, you’re kicking back and enjoying a drink, and the next, you feel more connected to yourself than ever before, like you’re tapping into something greater.
The atmosphere is both comforting and eerie, with a sense of mystery lingering in the air. The charm of Billy’s comes not just from its quirky ambiance but from the people it attracts: fellow dreamers, rebels, and seekers who are unafraid to be themselves. Whether you're here to relax, reflect, or simply be surrounded by those who get it, Billy’s Bootleggers delivers every time.
Adding to the allure are the live events, which infuse the space with beautiful, soul-stirring music. The performances are often intimate yet electrifying, filling the room with a unique energy that only enhances the otherworldly atmosphere. Whether it’s a local band, an acoustic set, or something more experimental, the live acts blend seamlessly into the venue's ornamental, fantastical style. The decor itself—rich in detail and brimming with eccentric charm—feels like a living piece of art, adding a magical, almost timeless quality to every night.
One of the unique joys of Billy’s is the freedom to interact with the space in your own way. The bartenders are approachable, and if you're feeling generous, it's fun to tip them with a drink or a little something extra to show appreciation. And if you find a drink unattended for a little too long—say, 10 minutes or so—don't be shy about helping yourself. Just keep it cool and respect the vibe. It’s all part of the game here. But remember, while the place encourages a laid-back, playful atmosphere, it’s important to keep your wits about you. Look after yourself, stay grounded, and keep it fun.
It’s a place where the weird and wonderful are not only accepted but celebrated. In fact, it’s almost as if the place itself helps you shed any pretence, allowing you to reconnect with what makes you, you. Don’t be surprised if you leave feeling a little more alive—perhaps even with your own metaphysical sense of "flesh" renewed and recharged.
So, if you ever find yourself in Nottingham, don’t miss out on Billy’s Bootleggers. It’s not just a bar; it’s where you can truly be.

Read moreMy wife and I were having a lovely time with our friends from Halifax. We all like country music and USA theme bars so Billy Bootleggers looked like the perfect venue for us.to have a couple of drinks ,On entering Billy Bootleggers we were lead to a high seated booth type table, we sat there for a while, but most of us felt a bit uncomfortable, and I have a knee problem. I spotted a empty table that looked more apt for us ,so I asked the waitress if we could move. OK she said. The table we moved to had bit of a step up to it, but ok and was in a good position to see the artist on stage. I got up to go and talk to one of my friends , I missed footed the step and fell into a barrel type table and a stool landed on my bad knee. I got up, said sorry and asked for some ice to put on my leg ..sat there for a while nursing my leg and finishing my drink.. there were six of us altogether and two of our friends said they where tired and going back to the hotel. We said our goodnights When I asked the for another around of drinks for just the four of us,we were refused to be served, when I asked why? they said we'd had enough and too drunk, and that I'd fell over .So we got up and left, by this time the clientele that were coming in were more of the younger generation. I think they just wanted us old folks out now. I did noticed that some of the bars were very ageist..in Nottingham 🤔😥 We can't help growing old ,it happens to everyone...
Read moreBilly Bootleggers event cancelled. On 30/05/21 my Fiancee and I decided to book tickets for the Back To the 80s - Nottingham event at Billy Bootleggers on Saturday 03/07/21. The tickets cost £5.98 each. £11.96 in total. On Friday 02/07/21 we had noticed that Billy Bootleggers had not been advertising the event so we attempted to call their number to check if the event was still on. We called numerous times but no-one answered. We had to go into town and visit Billy Bootleggers and ask the people serving at the bar if the event was still on. They had no idea but said that they would get someone to contact me.
Someone from Billy Bootleggers did contact me and they said that the event was being organised by a third-party (Throw back events) and they were unaware that the tickets were still showing as Saturday 03/07/21. I asked how to obtain a refund and they said that that they would get back to me. They never got back to me. The next day I noticed that the event date had changed to Friday 24/09/21. This date is no good for me so I used the Eventbrite app to request a refund. The refund status states that the organisers should respond to your request within a week and you'll automatically receive an email from Eventbrite once the refund has been issued. Today is 19/09/21 and after 2 weeks the refund has not been issued. No contact received. So someone has £11.98 of my money for an event that never took place....
