Edit: Congratulations to Pizzamisu owners for the reply to my original review. It looks like an angry child wrote it who can't accept some criticism. If you're that unprofessional at treating unsatisfied customers with sarcasm and pure attack, what makes you think people will treat you as professionals at serving them food or anything else? Terrific way to run a business, you should definitely start a franchise and teach that attitude. For the record, I was looking forward to having a great food and great time as we were celebrating birthday, certainly not looking forward to giving you a bad review but that's actually on you that we were completely unsatisfied as you are the ones providing poor service and I am the recipient paying quite steep price for it. Have a look at my history of reviews, plenty 5 stars so don't take me as some hater. Good luck, over and out :)
Original review: In a nutshell we were utterly let down after visiting Pizzamisu.
I know my review may sound a bit hateful after seeing so many good reviews but it's honest so anyway, let's get to some details - I went with my family for a dinner to Pizzamisu, really encouraged by terrific reviews and some recommendations from friends. Starters we ordered were very average. Bruschetta was served on too dry and not that great quality 2 sourdough toasts. Tomatoes nice, olive oil nice but all in all I had had much better bruschettas at other places. Nothing good enough to justify £7. Another starter (can't remember the name) was a fried potato and egg thingy stuffed with smoked mozzarella etc. It was just fair with a bit artificial flavour in the background. Once again - nothing special. I ordered a 250ml glass of "house red" wine and was told it was Montepulciano style. The wine was very average, I had drunk similar for £6 per whole bottle and here I paid £7.50 for 250ml...
After finishing the starters we had to wait for a long time to get our pizzas. Waitress didn't even notice that we were sitting without any food for such long time, she was very occupied by talking and laughing with her colleague. Considering the fact that's a small restaurant we're talking about and that Neapolitan style pizza takes literally 90 seconds to bake then 35 minutes waiting time seems to be way too much. I asked another lady about progress on our pizzas and it took around 10 mins to get them after that. I was strongly under impression that they simply forgot about our pizzas or lost the order... Finally we received pizzas and - let me highlight that I do know Neapolitan style pizza and had eaten plenty of them before - I have to say it was completely average. It was alright so I finished it whole but there was absolutely zero wow factor... The dough was too gummy even for Neapolitan pizza. To be perfectly honest I was much more satisfied by pizza at Zizzi or Prezzo (yes I know they don't do neapolitan). My wife said exactly the same about hers, she had the one with porcini mushrooms and she didn't finish it as she was let down. Normally when I eat neapolitan pizza I have this overwhelming feeling that it's so fresh and the quality of ingredients is amazing! But I did not have that feeling in Pizzamisu...I had eaten another pizza from their competitor near Victoria centre and I have to say their pizza beats that one to the ground in round 1...
At the finish it obviously came to paying the bill. We noticed in the menu that there is 10% OPTIONAL service charge. The waitress came to us with 10% already on the bill and obviously had never asked us if we wanted to pay that charge so another great touch from Pizzamisu...
I honestly never thought I would give them such bad review especially after seeing 4.8/5 on Google but at the same time I had never been let down so much after seeing so good reviews. Nearly always that high star rating means something and you can expect something at least nice, if not amazing. Here I was just punched in the face and left alone bleeding... I'm sorry but I will never come back to Pizzamisu. Worst over...
Read moreWe went to this restaurant on a Sunday evening following a recommendation for my partner's birthday. The pizzas took quite a while to be cooked and served and mine initially appeared to be fine. Once I'd eaten some of the topping and base, I discovered that the base was mostly burned to a crisp and inedible. As the waitress had already been past to ask "is everything okay", and my guests were already half way through their meals, I felt that it was too late to complain at the table and re-order, as the restaurant also closes at 8:30 on Sunday. When I paid for the meals, and mentioned the burned pizza, I was told that it's MY responsibility to check the food quality before eating it. I find this to be bizarre for a restaurant that prides itself on quality - surely the quality of the cooking is the responsibility of the chef? How am I going to turn a very hot pizza upside down on its - too small - plate to check that it isn't burned black? The waitress herself was very helpful and friendly, but the staff member at the till responded by criticising ME, not her chef. I will NOT be returning to this pizza restaurant and, sadly, I feel that the restaurant will be happy with that, rather than keen to improve their quality and service when it's necessary. EDIT: My apologies, I did forget to mention that there was a £5 discount for my, mostly inedible, pizza. The bill, for two pizzas (one mostly inedible) and two drinks was still £45.43, including a 10% service charge. As I was at pains to say previously, it's not realistically possible to immediately realise that a significant part of the base of a plated pizza is burned black, without flipping it over before you have started to eat it. Every time I eat out, I put my trust in a professional establishment that the food will be properly cooked and checked BEFORE it reaches the table. I would point out that, along with the basic costs of ingredients and cooking, the EXPERIENCE is why people choose to eat out rather than sit at home with a supermarket pizza. In this case, my experience and that of the other people with...
Read moreIf you are foodie, pizza lover, good cook or love your drink avoid from this place. Well, I try to be fair and realistic after our disappointment. We got a table upstairs where was cold, when we seated, the spot lights were on full vac, I was overlooking of an industrial storage fridge. It was feels like a food store not a restaurant. So atmosphere zero out of 10. While I said that downstairs looked like more stylish. Both of us are Negroni fan, so we started with two of those Negronis. It was a great mistake. Those drinks were nothing to do with Negroni. We just guess it was a blend of Aperol and poor quality vodka or gin. It was a real harassment on the Italian drink culture as well as my after dinner cappuccino, which was taste weak, without creamy milk froth. Disgraceful. Drinks big zero out of 10. Our pizzas was okay looking except the middle part under the topping which was soggy. The crust was lovely. The vanilla ice crem has a fridge smell and taste in my affogato dessert. I left it as it was. Food was about 5 out of 10. I did like my bottled Peroni Grand Reserva Rosso, that I never had before, but it's not balancing the disappointment of the other drinks and meals. I must mention no wine list in this place at all. No one asked after dinner how we feel or we liked the food or not. The service generally was rushed and bit careless. We paid 79,42 for a worthless...
